Don, the setback is 5-1/2". I will weigh them and calculate shipping to you.

On a Cat your prop shaft is higher than the bottom and if you could trim up in very low water and the hull will drag bottom before the prop stops making forward movement . I don't think CMC recommends a Hyd plate for extreme offshore use . I went with Stainless plates , very , very exspensive .

Hi Frank, the reason is the engine height on your boat is very critical, Without jack plates your boat ran best with a 1.75” height above the bottom of the sponson, any higher you will not have enough water pressure for sustained high RPM running, you will cook a motor. How accurate do you think your finger is on that button? Can you stop at the perfect height every time? Are you sure that both electric motors on both plates are running at the same speed, and traveling the same exact distance? The measurements to set the engines right are done in 1/8” increments, not ½” or ¾” Any lower and you will be running quite a bit slower, too high and you will overheat. Also on the manual plate when you lock down the adjusting nuts you take any movement out of the slides. These boats running at 100+ speeds will tear the motor off if the plate starts to have any play.

Hey Philip
I understand what your saying it makes a lot of sense. So I think I'l go with mechanical, wonder if they'll make a difference. I think the plates and the right props will give me the 2-4 mph I'm looking for. Thanks Frank
PS thanks to every one for the input.
