The stainless ones are way overkill and way heavy, the will also move your CG back a bit with all of the weight in the transom. I don't know if I've ever seen Skater with the stainless.

I wanted Alum plates but once I said I'm going with 2-300 opti's . CMC in no way shape or form would they stand behind a Alum plate on a 32 Skater . They said Maybe OK on a Lake boat 21-24 or bigger lake boat 28

They are covering there you know what, but here are plenty of 300's out there on Alum. The weight of the stainless we definetley change your CG

For the record the only part that is Stainless are the engine side angles and the bolts , the rest of it is Alum

I spoke to CMC and they said the all aluminum are all need #65012. They only recommend the stainless for V8 outboards . Thanks for all your comments
PS Will the jack plates gain me any speed??? |
They told me the same thing at first , until I told them the boat is a 32 that will go in very rough water and the said the alum would be fine for a smaller lake boat . For what a pair of new 300 Opti's cost , I now for sure they will not fail . Again I think the Transom will fall off on a 28 before the plates fail ! I have seen a few weakened and cracked trasoms on 28 with 300's

Thanks Larry. I'm Running 250XSs they maybe a little lighter . But will I see any benefit speed wise with jack plates and will there be a difference in handling?
|
Thanks
