that hitch looks like it could work well. wondering how you know how much psi to put in it for the proper ride.:cool-smiley-011:

I can use my on board air compressor that powers my train horns. Im halfway there!

Yep, That is how you set up the ride height. I use my mountain bike shock pump to adjust it (has a built-in gauge). It is about 8" long and keep it in my console. This is absolutely the best towing enhancement that can be done, IMO.

My 36 Skater Outboard has easily outlasted 4 tow vehicles and counting

That 36 is every bit as unique and eye catching as Bill P's Pure Platinum's... always good to see updates that she is still loved and running strong

Great looking Chevy David. Glad you and the cat are still doing well. Funny how everyone is catching on to what we knew all along. Outboards are the way to go!

Any more thoughts or plans to go 4 stroke or going to just keep enjoying the 280s

thanks Bob! Yeah Mercury finally saw the light!
we've been carrying the torch for a long time. It’s gratifying that they listened even if it was their cash registers that motivated this surge of outboard power!

I decided to stick with the light weight (and paid for) 2.5’s on my 36 skater,
the extra weight and expense just not worth it to me to re-rig to the 450’s
i’ve been enjoying my Skater with the family for many years now and happy with the pretty much trouble free operation of the old school efi 280’s. Also I’d miss the sound and smell of the 2 strokes 😂

Between the smoke, the sound and the date stamp of the Vid - you and the boat deserve your own "Mike Drop"... the 2.5's are like angry bees

A 4 stroke O/B will never bring the smile from the sound of twin 2.5's running hard in harmony (Don't care who you are) but quads are just over the top.......Definitely a special boat!

D. Mercury - how have the center gear cases held up over the years? referring to a comparison of a triple rigged 32' or 28' that has unprotected gear cases on the mid engine that just take an ABSOLUTE beating....

speicher lane 09-09-2020 03:57 PM

1.7 Million views....quite the boat that garners a lot of attention....

David,

You need to bring the boat back out to LOTO. We bought a place on the water- Rue and yourself are welcome to join us anytime.

Joe

thanks Dave, I think there’s more speed to be had if I could get the hook out of the rear running surface. Just not enough time to devote to it lately.
didnt want to ask if there’s a chance you’d have time to think about this. Notice how unusually flat it flies at 122.

Hi Joe, that’d be great sometime. Congratulations on the new lake house! Thanks!

sorry for delay in reply, the 2 center gearcases I would say are semi protected with slimmer pods that Dave a Sikorski fabricated for me awhile ago. I also added some aluminum pod extensions to lessen the blow when coming off plane. I mostly boat on a small lake in central Ohio where rough conditions are rare.
It’s not a good test compared to offshore use.
There has been other trauma for those center gearcases in the way of hitting submerged lumber that caused extensive damage to props, propshafts and skegs that I’ve had to turn to Craig Collabella for mercy.
The good news is Craig set me up with some brand new cases and BBLADES with resurrecting the bent props.
i am hoping to get the Skater back out before the end of the season and see how it is all affected.

I missed this post Bonz! We like to go to the Pizza Cottage after boating at Buckeye lake. They’ve got a big parking lot which means a lot towing the Skater.
It’s a Sunday thing. Sorry to have missed meeting your sis!

i was wondering how things have been going for you just the other day! boat still looks great!
