Looks amazing David!!!

bulletbob 01-08-2014 10:55 AM

I liked the white because of the great lines of the Skater but.... I really like what you have chosen as a paint scheme.

davidmercury 01-08-2014 11:04 AM

Thanks Bob, but there will still be lots of white

RT930turbo 01-08-2014 12:17 PM

Its funny how when the fellow boater who ended up playing bumper boats with my Skater at the launch ramp, was the final straw, and so we decided to go for it

David,
Looks really nice!!!! What's all that white stuff on the ground? Sand? LOL. You need to bring that thing to FL and do the poker run to Islamorda for the Miami Boat Show! The boat will be fine in salt water!

I'm gonna have to listen to stories on the docks at Woody's about how Ken Schrader the Nascar Feller' bought Dave Thomas' Island, and now he's rip roarin' all over the lake in that cigar boat with his number on the side.

The idiots in my village still wouldn't get it. They are always amazed that my 25' cat will hold 110 gallons of fuel and that I only get 2mpg! At that point they have assured themselves that I am crazy and walk off shaking their heads. The paint really does the hull justice. I think the 36 Skater has the best lines. It dwarfs a 30' and 32' Skater. You did good Dave in your design of the scheme.

My taste in colors have not changed much over the years. My first Cat, 1998 Spectre 30, tripps used basically the same colors. I asked Mitch to incorporate these colors along with a nice tribal and 3D effect on my 36 skater.

Thanks, I'm glad that I was able to get this project completed to this point. Any of you guys out there that are contemplating doing a restoration on " the boat of your dreams" just take note:
Have a realistic vision for what you want to end up with, remember its going to come down to 2 things basically. TIME and MONEY.
Unless you are highly skilled and gifted in fiberglas/Kevlar repair and fabrication with the heated shop and lots of time on your hands (retired and well off financially) with not much family time needed, it would behoove you to seek out Dave Sikorski for bringing back your dream boat to what she once was or even better. He's a fair guy and does great work.
Also I'd recommend Mitcher T for doing a custom paint and graphics on your restored boat. He too is one of those rare gems that does what he says and can be trusted to deliver and exceed your expectations.
I ended up spending a fraction of what it'd cost me to buy new. However I know that if I had to sell, I'd probably be lucky to break even. That doesn't matter so much to me right now. If you really love high performance boating, and realize how rare these beauties are compared to the majority of vessels that are buzzing around on our water ways, I feel fortunate to have found almost exactly what I was hoping for, and having the right people do the work with the right outcomes.

bulletbob 01-14-2014 07:35 AM

It's always refreshing to hear a customer that is happy with the services and products delievered. It's unfortunate that in this sport we don't hear it more often. Thanks to you and Sam for letting us live vicariously through your builds. Keep us posted on your setup ie: slip%, props etc.

LAriverratt 01-14-2014 09:15 AM

It'd be nice to see it in person....how about coming to the tickfaw 200 first weekend in may...:evilb:...there's a few boats coming from up your way.:D quite a few skater are gonna be here for sure!!!

and Sam I'd like to hear his and your running...one screaming and one roaring LOL.

glassdave 01-14-2014 11:02 AM

Thanks for the compliment David it was a pleasure to help. I am very fortunate in that is still enjoy working on these things every day and i really do adopt each an every one of 'em lol. They test our patience to say the least but in the end it just happens and you are left to enjoy all the hard work. Really hope you guys can make a run to the Bay with us some time this summer.

Mitch just makes it look so easy, awesome paint job and just the right amount of color. Hey wheres the Corona "relax" tree? :D

noli 01-14-2014 11:44 AM

Lightning Jet's trailer work is also very impressive!

David, what is your next restore boat? Ok fine, keep it a secret a little longer :)
