Id have one in the driveway right now if some of these guys would get reasonable and not just "well it was *just* redone and heres every receipt plus I want what I put into it and another $20k because it looks the way I wanted it to look".... sigh..
And then theres the guy whos 24 is rotting in the back yard and thinks he couldnt turn lose of it for less than $65k because he saw a 28 listed at $75k and its "just a few feet smaller, but basically the same boat".. From what I can tell, theres two types of 24's available. Pre-update and Recent Update. The pre'update owners want $24k and under. The recently-updated owners want roughly $1.1m (give or take) I got all winter I guess... |
Waterboy222, You hit the nail on the head my friend!!!!!! Couldn't have said it better myself. I do have one question for you guys??? What do you think of a talon 25 in comparison to the skater. I'm torn between one here in Canada for 45grand. Or looking hard over the winter for a skater 24 for less than 1.1!!!! Here's the link to the talon. http://summerstownmarina.com/boat.cfm?ID=177

The talon isnt a true cat. They have a center sponson/pod and a REALLY strange controls setup. The seats are moved to the port side a little and the throttles/shifters are tucked under the gunnel. A real hassle in my opinion. Also it will have lower freeboard than the 24. If you want the better ride, handling and speed, the 24 Skater would be the way to go.. Plus for $45k, you could have almost ANY of the 24's on the market right now. Theres a few of them that are listed in that range and probably will get close to it at the sale.
That talon is pretty, but under the paint, you're lookin at an entirely different boat.. |

Dont the new ones have a Skater bottom anyways? Or was that liberators 25? I can't remember.. I should have clarified, the one that he posted wasn't a full tunnel, thats why I mentioned the pod. .. |

If the boat was listed in the mid 30's, I'd put it in the shopping range. But for $45k, you're gettin into high-end 24 or low-end 28 territory..

Thx for the info lads!!! Greatly appreciated!!! As for the center pod?? Is that a better setup for rough or smooth water conditions??? New to the cat style and boating in general. Getting off the motorbike and on the water for a while. Love the 24 skater as my first choice. What's the fuel tank sizes in either of these boat talon or skaters??? Wife keeps wanting to know!! She's only worried about the operating expenses of owning a twin outboard.
