Sounds about right. That 36MTI is very close in size to the 39/40. And the 1100's make alot more torque than the 1075's. So he's either under propped /geared or leaving alot on the table somewhere.

My MTI is a 40, just a SMALL 40. Lol
The 36's running surface is only about 1.5 feet shorter I believe, but they have a cut down deck which shortens them up a bit also. The 36 was built specifically for the Havasu people because that was suppose the be limit for going through the canal on most weekends. |
39 MTI was later called the 40 with a longer over hang. The 39/40 is really a 37' hull and more comparable to a 36 Skater. The 42/44 MTI would be a better comparison to the 40 Skater. Skater is one of the only manufacturers who uses the actual hull length to label the boat. I have owned both a Skater and MTI. Funny how some Skater guys get so worked up when ever a comparison is made. I will say the MTI's draw a bigger crowd at the docks. Both are fast. I would be happy with either boat.

I can't remember if he had 6 or 8's on his.....maybe he had to let up cuz of a cruiser wake errrrrrrrrrrr maybe it was prop related.
He just got it this summer so you guys are probably right, just need to fine tune it now:whistle:

I've seen 158 in my MTI with 1075's. Then again I've seen 188 in my old 36 Skater with 1500 Sterlings. :eekdrop::party-smiley-004:

you make it sound like it's only a small detail - the extra 30 on the top end - LOL
So there is no confusion in my post. I own an MTI that I am really pleased with. I do respect the Skater brand, and think the 368 with a windshield should be a great boat to own one day. I think that Skater & MTI's are evenly matched as for performance. It comes down to HP, setup, and how the owner chooses to run the boat. The supercat races are a good example of this the people that put the seat time in testing and the $ win some years their in Skaters and other in MTI's. |

An additional 850hp to get 30 more mph on the top end great.

C'mon Blume is that the best 368 you could find? You bring me a guy with a skater and an MTI with the same power, weight, xdimension, and props etc. only then will any of us know which is a better performing boat. The rest of this is just brand loyalty.
