I have no dog in this hunt...We are small time....only ever owned one skater but then again it was the only one we ever needed because nobody has beaten us and it runs ever time we turn the key
It's a Skater Nation....... Rock on!!!!
This is Brad Benson from nj. not ny. And I was the owner of the 48 mti that day at rock the bay. I would like to adress the many half truths of anchors previous statements. Why I am using my real name. You guys are little guys? lol you own the marina! probably more expensive real estate than I could ever afford. 40 sets of props? Try one set! 39s. Your boat runs every time you turn the key? You need a bible... I hear that you have been through a few sterlings just last summer!
As for the poker run and you being the designated pace boat.. there are at least 75 witnesses to you being the pace boat supposedly. We didnt even know we were running you until my son saw u coming from the rear. but u were one man in boat ran up the left side of the bay 50 feet from the shore as we went on a 20 degree arch and then got trapped behind the slower poker run boats. Until we ran out of room we pulled you at will. I was a gentleman and never said a word.
I will never run you in that little channel. My boys are always with me. And I am sorry I sold that boat because I would love to run you in safe water where it would be easy. But my new boat will make u scream foul and i know you wont show up for that. Oh by the way you are little guys with big rolexes! So i will be there next year. lets run for real. Why didnt you go on the run any way? HMMMMMM[/QUOTE]

Brad, thanks for clearing that up. I was obviously given the wrong info from all the dock chatter, my apologies. As for the engine issues.....just 1 blower failure at Lake Cumberland and one last fall so yes Whipple failed us not Sterling and the boat still runs a solid 115 without the blowers turning. Yes I took the inner channel while you took a straight line...
While my comments referenced your boat and you they were not directed to you. I was simply defending a 388 against a 48 with 1350's.
I am sure your new boat will be beautiful.....are you going with the new merc 1700's?

Thanks for being a gentleman. And I did not call you a dangerous driver. Dock chatter does always keep us engaged.lol I can tell you that there will not be 1700 Mercs being built. They will be smaller. But i am sworn to secrecy and i am not sure what i am doing yet. Pump gass is very nice. I wish all of you guys a very Merry Christmas and be safe if you travel with your boat this winter.
We will not be boating till April. We are boatless till then as you know.

Your skater was next to Burns 36 Mti at loto and it really wasent that much taller, how they look on trailer and how they look in water is completely diffrent.

I read through this thread yesterday and thought there was a lot of great comments, there is a couple of things that I think need to be clarified. First is the new 44 just a 40 with a bussel and the 52 a 46 with a bussel and what good is it it doesn't lengthen the running surface? To me it just makes it look more like a MTI. Also do the MTI's still run nose heavy like there going to stuff or did Randy fix that flaw in the hull? I don't have a stake either way just random thoughts.

Steve,

The red 44' is a 40SS with a bussel. The 50' or 52' is a 46' with a bussel or set up for BPM or Arneson drives with a rudder. We build custom boats, if the custom wants to use the running length or LOA.... we do it.
