Ok Bajadriver, we get it, Caveat Emptor applies to boats too, really, we get it, thanks.
BTW, Do you happen to have a 28' Skater setting around you want to sell?

Ok, help me out here guys. If a man wanted to restore an old 28, what would it cost? From my little bit of research here is what I'm coming up with.
Tanks $5k- $7k
Interior $6k-$7k
Paint $5k to infinity and beyond
Wrap $3k-$5k
New twin 300 xs's with 15" mids and rigging and props ??? I have no clue...
What should the allowance be for new power and rigging?
Where is the best place to get a set of 300 xs's
What are these 28's selling for new?
Thanks for your help...

Steering, throttles, tie-bar and wing plates will vary greatly in pricing depending upon which manufacturer you choose. Rigging will depend upon how much you want to do and how you want it. The smart craft are not included with the engine purchase price so you have to add for those if wanted and of course there is more labor to drill the dash for gauges but it might end up a wash when one considers the cost of the smart craft system itself.
List on a new 28' Skater hull is $ $141,440.00 emphasis on List.
You can purchase an aluminum trailer such as the ones from South FL for under $6K or you can step it up for twice that cost with a Myco.
Paint is your preference so only you know how much you like and like to spend.
The 28' Skater market have come back in the last few years, especially since the 300xs engines have came out as no one likes the 2.5's for life span, only slightly worst than the ProXax 300's and the 300X are no longer made so when the 300xs came out and it got much better fuel mileage than the older motor options they 28 market has awaken.
It's a hard boat to beat in the size range and it get's great fuel mileage (relative statement I know) and they can run roughly 110 mph. What's not to like?

There is a 28' with a single Mk#6 drive on it.
I like the idea of twin small blocks in one. I think the boat could handle the weight, there would have to be some deck modifications. But....Once you start where would you stop? Flat Deck? Widen? Cockpit changes? Windshield? How fast would it go? Should at lest be 120 fairly easily with that power and low weight small blocks with good rpm's.
Years back we were thinking if a project using the "Bush Series" V6 engines. When they went to the V8's the V6's were DIRT cheap and made 650ish hp and good rpm.. Sounded like a dream package.

Thanks for speaking up guys. Good info.
I like the idea of twin small blocks in a 32. Seems to me like a high revving tricked out aluminum small block would be just the ticket for such a light hull. If two 300 xs's will push a 32 over 100mph, the twin small blocks would be very interesting.
Thanks again for the input.
