buy the smartcraft twin engine gateway from Mercury and put it into the A75. They have a data page you can configure with all kinds of options. I made a nice page with all fuel data etc. Great when cruising to waypoints etc.

Looking good LA!
|
As much as I love the lines of the Skaters and prefered the all white look you and David really complimented the hulls with your paint schemes. Green is my favorite color and I would take either yours or Davids paint scheme over white.
Great work gentlemen!! Bob |
mine has an intercom system on it. I have not tried it out. (piratecom???) any one heard or used this brand?
|
no upgraded seal kits in my lowers. will order kits asap.

took it out again after I got it back from stereo shop...love this thing!! need to tighten the throttles tension they are way to easy to push LOL ...thanks again for the stereo info! it helped with room for the gps! |

I have the pirate intercom in mine works good
|
has to be a way to snug them up so they aren't so touchy. in rough water I really think they are going to be so loose that I move them with every rough bump I hit.
thanks jm...I need to go sit in it and at least learn how to use em...been quite a bit of cr@py weather here so I will have to have someone make engine noises to see how well they work lol |
I was kidding because I typically have two speeds all and none. But mine are fine. Very responsive.

LARR are you ordering the MadEFI kits? Also you need a vent Kit to relieve pressure and make sure you drop the water (pee) hose and/or move air intake to front of he cowl to prevent water ingestion.

Craig
How did it run? |
Runs great. Cruise at 70-75. Went and filled it up after that pic which naturally made it sluggish lol
|
Only add the fuel you need for the days run. Watch the weight:)

yes that I will do but it is almost full right now LOL...guess that means I should burn some off???? I really need to find some of those helium filled fenders I have heard about too :lolhit: the skater site says 140 gallons that's 70 per side like the 28's...well I must have been burning air which is a good thing but I put over 75 gallons in the port side gauge showed right at empty. I don't have a users guide for the vessel view. where can I get one...that way I can learn how to keep track of fuel and keep just enough for my running LOL. |

LA, now that you have the lowers pulled out, send them to Wilson Custom Marine for blue printing - increases top end by 3-5 MPH I heard this is a quote from Wilson Custom Marine: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/g...ml#post3501510 Kaama, it will help across the board. Being a racer, I have put our own blueprinting to "work" and really documented the improvements and where they were most noticeable. Lets start at getting on plane: The way we re-shape the drive makes it much more hydrodynamic. The flow of water to the propeller is now cleaner, so this creates less cavitation, so it makes getting on plane quicker, easier and with less RPM. Now, once on plane and running, even at a cruise speed, the same clean flow to the propeller gives you less cavitation, more forward bite thus creating better speeds at same RPM. Now bring into to equation the "trueing" of the drive that we do. Every skeg is either off center, twisted or just simply bent in relation to the upper part of the drive. This can create many situations: toe in , toe out, and so on... These scenarios wreak havoc on the water flow to the propeller and also to the handling of your boat. Let me paint a picture in your head. Picture your drive as it sits now on your boat. Nice and blunt, fat, twisted, bent, toed in or out, and even a little off center..... WOW... Ok, now picture yourself cruising at 50 mph, and that fat, twisted, bent and whatever else we can call it, drive getting pushed through the water. The water is twisting, hitting, churning and bubbling as it goes over the drive... DIRECTLY onto your lovely, expensive set of propellers. What the water is also doing, is pushing back hard against this ugly out of shape piece of metal, and causing a huge amount of drag. At the same time the water is giving your drive a hard time, your lovely set of propellers are now saying " screw this" I need to find some clean water that I can really push with, and they now go on the hunt for it. So, now you have your drive getting beaten up by the water, you have your drive that doesnt know in what direction it wants to go and then on top of all of that your propeller is getting terrible water and cannot perform. Sounds like a recipe for bad performance doesnt it !!!? Of course, the faster you go the worse it gets. You now find yourself with a boat that doesnt plane without going to high RPM, the cruise is not at all efficient, the boat hunts around, and then when you want to open her up and see what she has, the chine walking, transom walking, out of control feeling just plain and simply scares you. That doesnt sound like a good days boating!!!! We can solve all of this. We have spent years perfecting what we do. We have blueprinted thousands of drives over the years. We have never had an unhappy customer. Our number one goal is not top speed. Its making your boat more stable, smoother and best of all safer!!!! With this recipe, speed is on the menu for dessert!!! I hope this helps a little with understanding what we do, what you spend your money on and what you can expect to see. Please contact me if you have any other questions. 1 (772) 285 3562. All the best Craig http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/...76771613-4.jpg |
I have thought about it...maybe come winter. I really want to run it quite a bit first. I'm looking at prop options right now. whatever I do will be one thing at a time so I can see what if any gain in handling and performance I get.
just went to see about pricing...4k per lower...8k for 5 mph |
.
from the quote above WCM sez: "Our number one goal is not top speed. Its making your boat more stable, smoother and best of all safer!!!! With this recipe, speed is on the menu for dessert!!!" if you can, please document each performance gain that you observe and what made it do so...very interested in seeing this. . |
i'll do my best. staring a notebook today with all the info. guess I better get a 3 subject binder though for repairs, upgrades and performance info LOL.

Wilson does a great and beautiful job. I can fell you in. Forget about the 3-4mph gains in an outboard skater. been there done that.
|
LA, were you running them hard this weekend? You would think Merc's seals would handle are but the hardest of running/racing. Maybe not???

I have all the hardware ordered form Hydrotec expansion tanks and all (thanks ron) the lower wont go back on till I install it.
yea I did run it pretty hard with full tanks. there's a video of me and my slow throttle response over a cruiser wake on FB LOL damn rookies LOL... only burned 1/4 tank off still learning the vessel view so I didn't get any run info LOL... the port lower had signs of water when I first got it. I changed it again before the run ( little bit of water then too) it was pretty milky after. pulled them both to upgrade. |
.
would you have a pic or a website for the Hydrotec expansion tanks ? |
|
received my parts minus one expansion tank/shift seal kit. that'll be here tomorrow. port all done except for putting it back on the mid. the starboard had the upgraded drive kit but obviously not the expansion/shift kit so I'll have an extra pre loaded replacement shaft seal as a spare. it'll be ready for the 200 though. really interested to see what it'll do top end wise after I run the fuel down...still sitting on 3/4 right now. running the props that came with the boat 14 1/2 x 32 merc 3 blades

to increase the tension on the shifter or throttles, there is an Allen bolt located at the back of the shifters or throttles, under the rubber boot accessed through the slit in the boot. Just tighten it to desired amount of friction. David

I didn't take many, the wife and the rest of the crew took a lot and took some video, I'll try and round some of that up and post it. Freeze frame got a pretty good shot of me and a friend on Thursday making a test run after I got the lowers back on. |
lowers have been off for almost a month now, it's been raining a lot so it's not really bothered me much but this weekend the rivers open back up after the high water and will be nice... still waiting on parts so the repairs can get done
oh...for tickfaw 200 pics you may have to go to the wifes FB LOL. |
Don't feel bad. I have been waiting on a case that was leaking right in the middle of the side of the housing for 2months. Way to go Mercury Racing for support!
Good thing I have two sets of lowers. |
