Hello LA, What number did you get or are you trying to keep us in suspense? Ha. What were your midrange cruise numbers?
working on top end just to see what I can get out of it but really in the end I want a good comfortable cruise speed because that's where I will spend the most time cruise speed was 86 pretty level too!
Hey LA, Love that cruising speed. You gonna try and tune in the Dewalds. I think they have run very well on the 28s but not sure about the 30s yet. Im sure somebody here can confirm that. Good luck with that top end. hoping they work well for you. Have you ever run the BBlades Blasters. they are supposed to do very well too.
have not tried any other props other than the 3blade mercs and dewalds.
Sweet 30 Skater!! Would try The Dewald's and Herrings like Ron mentioned. I have been running Dewalds for a few yrs now, love them!

Looks nice. Is that the one that was at Ryan's shop recently for sale? Curious to see how you get it to run. I am sure the Dewald's would work great for top speed but I have had some results for rough water with 4 blade Herrings thru-hub round ear props also. I know Gary is running 6 blade herrings on that 32' he just got done. Heard it has touched 110mph. I do not think a stock 30' Skater will come close to those numbers though stock. I have a buddy in NC with one that has 300x's on it. He has run 112mph light on a good day. I would think it will be around 100-105 depending on whether you get the DBR mod or not.

Steve, Yes we all hung out down here and grew up running around in the ocean on weekends! Rigged all his race boats and that is who I bought my 28 from.
ran the dewalds again, picked up on the top end but the cruise speed is where they really shine plus the vibration from the 3 blades was very noticeable and pretty much gone with the 4blades. Needing to get some real info on where my prop shafts are and make sure the toe is correct... may find some more top end after that but I love the attitude of the boat and the speed I'm carrying at cruise with the 4blade dewalds.
LA, What you described is exactly what I experienced by switching to the Dewalds! Good luck with the tuning!
Hey LA, What cruise speed and RPM are you talking about. Also what increase in top end are you doing specifically. Thanx Steve.
95 top end...93 degrees, 98% humidity and fairly flat water. cruising was upper 70's to 80ish at about 5k. close to 3/4 tank of fuel, 1/2 full oil tanks too...my fuel gauges are off a little...ran out at 1/8 tank a couple times already thankfully close to the marina LOL.
i have seen 102 with that boat always 98/99
Yes and you live in the NE where all Skaters are faster until they die. :evilb:
The humidity and heat we have in this part of the country is a killer on horsepower. Not that it doesn't get hot and humid up there but.... I never saw over 98 in the summer and did not hit 102 until a cool dry fall day here. Add in all our hot women beer and fuel we carry and it's a wonder we even get on plane down here! I've also noticed a 1-2 mph gain on salt water 1-2' bay chop compared to our smooth water rivers and smooth until bumpy lakes. Not to mention all the cruiser wakes:boat: Conditions are everything and ours generally suck. |
when fall gets here I will run it and fully expect to see better numbers. my mustang loved the dry cool air LOL...you'd swear someone swapped out the engine from the last run in the heat and humididty LOL.
Hey LA, I was reading about that Skater 30ss with the merc 300XSs. Its the red white and blue classic 30 that just came out a while ago. They're running 31pitch BBades Blasters and I believe they stated it was cruising about 80mph around 4200rpms or so. Sounded pretty good. They had no top end numbers yet as their lake was low and were afraid of stumps. I think they were going to step up to 32s. You may consider them. Right now they only come in pitch up to 33. I don't think they'll work for me but Brett said he may be casting some with greater pitch as people have been asking for them. Just a thought. Steve.

I'm only going to offer you one suggestion. DO NOT go to a public bath. It's a long story, just don't. HaHa! Have fun... |

may not go with sea dek...colors are very limited and I have not found any others that have a good selection.
Check out Deckadence flooring. They have lots of colors. I had it in my last boat and just put it in my Velocity.
