Default new to me 308

...some were asking details so instead of cluttering up the other thread I started this one...anyone else with a 308 please feel free to post and share info!!!

just picked it up after the first of the year

308 with 300xs's. its all white it did have a wrap already but I/we (wife) wanted to add a little more color so I'm putting a new but similar wrap...doing a little repair/upgrade to stereo and touching up the gel-coat in just a very few spots and looking into different props (any suggestions???) some build pictures of it are here

Looks great. Prop wise I think most have had the best luck with 4 blade cleaver dewalt props. I see it has Mike Nass cowlings, do the motors have DBR level 1 kits? If not that would be a great upgrade.

Does it have lower unit vent kits and double seals?

Looks nice. Is that the one that was at Ryan's shop recently for sale? Curious to see how you get it to run. I am sure the Dewald's would work great for top speed but I have had some results for rough water with 4 blade Herrings thru-hub round ear props also. I know Gary is running 6 blade herrings on that 32' he just got done. Heard it has touched 110mph. I do not think a stock 30' Skater will come close to those numbers though stock. I have a buddy in NC with one that has 300x's on it. He has run 112mph light on a good day. I would think it will be around 100-105 depending on whether you get the DBR mod or not.

Congrats! I almost bought that baby in 08-09. Nice rig. Are you doing Tickfaw with it? I'm still working out plans to possibly come down just depends on Will and the boss!

Great job on the 308!
I'd call Dave at Dewald props, he's great to work with, and knows what he's doing.

thanks guys..... . I have had it out only once before I took it to the stereo guy, ran it up into the high 80's, maybe touched low 90's, was not watching closely, never pushed it to WOT... the gps does still have 102mph so that's what it ran at some point... maybe on the trailer tho LOL .... it is a different feel than the 28 that's for sure! very little hop. its soooo much bigger than the 28, just didn't realize how much till I picked it up.

lake...engines are stock. I do have plans to get the DBR upgrades, assume that the nass cowls will work with their top upgrade seeing as they solve the water ingestion issues of the stock cowls

diamond...owner wasn't sure if his son installed seal kits but thought it was done...can I tell by looking???.... I will do it if not... any suggestions?

yep double, this was the one at ryans shop...my son and I met ryan and pete (photographer) when we picked it up, both real nice guys. ryan was trying to get me to race it at Smoking The Sound in Biloxi this year LOL. wife just rolled her eyes when I told her that. owner did tell me about the 32 owner running 110 with 6 blade herrings that was the 32 race canopy flat deck right?... I don't think I want to even know what a set of those will run me LOL... are 4 blades easier on the lowers?

still working on the graphics...the deck graphics is still not even close to something we like yet...may end up changing it all lol who knows.

sam I will run the skater one day and my sunsation the other at the Tickfaw 200. look forward to meeting you and seeing that bad azz 338 if you get to make it down here. Its a kick in the azz time, the rest of you guys should try and make this run, it's nothing like any of the other runs... REALLY...very laid back and no need to hustle from one stop to the next, you can enjoy the stops and the people...on your own time and your own schedule for two days. Sam asked me for a map, I'm gonna try and see if I can get one...I'll see if I can get caseyh post one up in the poker run section.

Herrings are expensive. They are nice but for the money Dewalds are hard to beat. My boat runs best with them. Regarding the lowers drop the gear case. To see if you have the Wayne taylor shaft seal you will have to remove the water pump housing. It is billet aluminum. If you have the stock seal it will be plastic. The shift seal will have a fitting on the front to an expansion tank up in power head. These upgrades are well worth it. I can send you the info to buy them if you want. You will spend about $ 400.00 per motor.
If you need a gps I have a Garmin 5208 I can sell you. Has the skater logo when you power it up.
Looking forward to the finished wrap.
