Boat Customs 36 Skater refresh
2 Attachment(s)
Chris Mills from Boat Customs and Jim Lee teamed up and developed a full wrap windshield this year and I was fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time, here are a few pictures Chris sent me of the new paint and windshield receiver on my 36 Skater. I will send pictures of the windshield when it comes in and gets installed as well as more paint pictures as he sends them to me. Chris went above and beyond on this project and I cant thank him enough! by-by canopies!

awesome work! was the receiver developed in-house? Is this a one-off or will the receiver/glass be productionized? also, who will be making the glass windshield? . |
Chris Mills designed the receiver in house, Jimmy Lee (Freedom US1) produces the windshields through his aerospace company, they are crystal clear. Tooling is done and are in full production.Chris is working on 3 other boats right now adding windshields. Super happy for them both, awesome guys!

Yes he can widen the cockpit as well, we are going to do that as well as add a bustle , steps and tunnel extension next year, strait up ran out of time this year. I dropped it off last month so he has busted his ass to make this happen before Ticfaw.

Larry,
I stopped by BC yesterday. Your boat looks AMAZING! I have been able to observe some of the process as they did the conversion. The way Chris has it setup, there is no doubt that it's a great fit on anything from a 28' to a 46'. And not just skaters, or even cats. He is doing a wrap around conversion on my friends 47 Fountain right now also.. I tell you what, that brought the boat right up to date when it comes to visual appeal. Noli: Chris had the receiver cut on a CNC router at AllRoute here in Michigan. Him and his team built the tooling at boat customs using those plugs. This entire setup was developed by boat customs. it's not a splash or copy of anybody else. I've sat behind a lot of wrap around windshields in Skaters.. The glass he is using is optically superior. no distortion in the curve. Skaters glass is nice, don't get me wrong.. Just saying that Jimmy Lee knows what he's doing when it comes to curved glass. Looks awesome LV!

Boat Customs proud to announce our latest projects, we are very thankful to have teamed up with Jim Lee of Lee Aerospace and multiple great customers in this process. We have developed a one of a kind aftermarket wrap-around windshield for multiple performance boat applications. The concepts and designs have been done in house with everyone’s help. This project has been over a year in the making; Jim flew back and forth from Wichita multiple times to help in this process and donated his 28 Skater for the first to be fit. We are very excited and can’t wait to create multiple works of art, as well updating some of the industries favorite boats. Our current molds and tools will fit many varieties of performance boats but not limited to, 38 to 47 Fountains 28 to 36 Skaters 30 to 36 Spectre’s, the one down fall we found is the size of our original design is limited to 5 person configurations. We are currently working on larger tools to accommodate 6 person cockpits, and should be complete ready to pull parts by late May. We also are capable of a variety of custom glass work, arranging from Hatches, Bustle extensions, and Center Consoles. As well as everyone knows our custom paint jobs. I want to personally say thank you to everyone that has helped and supported us in this process, we greatly appreciate everyone’s help! We look forward to working with many great customers! .
say you have a boat like the 28 pic below, what specific steps are done to put a wrap around windshield onto a 28 flat deck? The finished interior shall seat 5 adults. http://i1238.photobucket.com/albums/...r/img_0670.jpg |
