If they come out Im getting a set. Screw it. Gotta hope the lowers hold up. Being my boat was built with the transom reinforced it will hold the weight. Even with the extension brackets. Gotta be faster even with 300 extra pounds. I hope anyway. Ha

Double Rigged 12-12-2014 07:25 PM

Hate to rain on the new racing outboard parade but if you go to the x-cat sight and see the times/speed that the fazza boat ran the other boats with the 2,5's were much faster.
I also do not think if they were trying to convince other teams this is the way of the future they ran as hard as they could.
They have also been testing these motors for a long time and my guess the reason for the motors only making 300hp is that is what the lower unit could handle. Anymore was a broken gearcase.
I would plan for triples!!!!! Gary Balough is over there and I am sure we will have a full report upon his return.

Double Rigged 12-13-2014 05:18 PM

Stop the presses! Looks like Team Fazza won today! Maybe they were sandbagging. Buddy of mine said they had electrical problem in qualifying.
Guess we will have to wait and see.

Mundane question from a jealous T-top boater... When on the dock in something like a Skater 32 can you 'trim' the outboards completely out the water?

No you can not.

Not the answer I wanted but thank you anyway. Having lusted after thousands of photos of cats and never having seen one with the engines out I kind of figured as much. Hmm

Zero Patience 01-03-2015 11:48 AM

Call Porta Lift, they could set you up to trim it out of the water.

bulletbob 01-04-2015 04:12 PM

Porta lift is a great option. I had one with twin 260s' on my Thouroughbred.

this is closest to the fun house I believe. La Quinta Inn & Suites Hammond 42126 Veterans Ave, Hammond, LA 70403 (985) 345-4742.. if you own or have access to an RV, Blood River Marina (havehttp://bloodrivermarina.com/) or Tickfaw Marina at 29504 Highway 22, Springfield, LA 70462 Phone: (225) 695-3340 you might check with Casey on the blood river RV parking though...he handles that along with a lot of other stuff for the run.

I don't have a Skater yet as everyone knows but I did go boating yesterday. It was 48* air temp, the coldest I've been out, and pleasant sitting still drinking a cold one. Boat ran 91.1mph @ 6700 rpm with 4 blade 15x 30* vented bravos, no wind to speak of, and 30 gallons of fuel. I have Brucato ACUs' with no limiters. I need 14.25 to 14.75 diameter props to be able to hit max rpm. It has run 96 with light load. I'm hoping to best that with my labbed 3 blade 15x 30* Spinellis' next weekend. They are calling for 54*. I want to pull my injectors and have them flowed. other than a new interior I hope that will have me ready for this year. I have a ported 260 and think I will find another to have a set. The my 260s' liked fuel but are beasts turning 7500+. Stay warm my friends and go boating weather permitting. You will feel 1000% better once your on the water!

so what's are you tackling first on your 32?

Double Rigged 01-12-2015 07:59 PM

If anyone is looking for a nice 28 JJ is selling one. I saw it at Supreme Marine today. Boat has nice paint job, clean but 2.5's on it. Would be a nice boat with Opti's! Not sure what he is asking but Troy said looking to sell.

No firm plan yet Craig. I'm wanting to have it in the water for a season before a full restoration. I want to make sure this is the boat for me before I do paint and interior. You rebuilding that motor yet?

Lightspeed, I hope things are starting to stabilize a little bit with your family. I've been there man, and wouldn't wish it on anyone. I lost my only blood son to suicide May 14, 2011 and our lives will never be the same. He was 19 years old, and 19 more wouldn't have been enough.

Life can be very unfair at times.

Prayers your way.

Double Rigged 01-14-2015 07:03 PM

FP sorry to hear that. You all have gone through a very tough thing in life. Keep faith in GOD. Our family will keep you guys in our prayers.

lightspeed 01-14-2015 07:19 PM

Thanks guys

LAriverratt 01-15-2015 02:52 PM

prayers to both of you...stepson would have been 25 January 12th; been without him for a little over 2 years now. loosing a child is not what we expect in life.

skate 01-15-2015 08:55 PM

I had three friends show up at the hospital after Will's accident that lost their children to accidents. Their grace and support help Kim and I manage thru our crises. Even today when I want to question why Will I remember those parents that would give anything to have their child. You guys have pain I cannot imagine but your life does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. My family is so blessed to have our Will still with us. I will pray for all of your families. God Bless

LAriverratt 01-16-2015 01:40 PM

you have a strong well raised young man from all indicatioins skate! he is blessed to have such wonderful parents and friends id say!

now on to some skater news...two new mercury powerheads in route to Baton Rouge, Louisiana! :party-smiley-048:

bulletbob 01-17-2015 09:24 AM

Frost on ground this morning at 37* in Columbia. A high of 62* and sunny today with 5mph wind peak. Not much excitement to run a cat in but fast in the cool air. Tomorrow 62* again and "16 mph winds"!!!!!! Almost as good as sex! 75 to 90 mph in 3' lake sloop is as much fun as "myself" and my hull can handle.
