Sorry about the weather. A taste of what we have down here! Come down for the Miami Boat Show Run!!!!

I'm not complaining about the weather. It's that time of year. It's to expensive for me DR on my gubment salary to come for the show. I went in 2003 and never had an interest to go again. The run, on the other hand, would be cool but anything above 48* here on my lake and I'm happy. I look forward to your report on the new 400s and how your 300x's perform. I love the simplicity, reliability and 375# weight of my 2.5s'. I'm going on my 4th year with no problems on my 2.5s'.
LA, my weather patterns are almost the same, just a day or two behind yours. The bigblocks were out running Sunday on my lake also.

I would think they would be right at the same weight as 350sci's

600 and how many pounds are they??? any way to chop off bout 100#'s of crap to make them light???

skate 01-21-2015 03:53 PM

I'm hearing closer to 700# than 600 but again second hand sources

Flying Skunks 01-21-2015 05:58 PM

They were still on their backs in the crates ..soon to be mounted for Miami ..they look Bad Arse ..can't wait to see how they perform.

Flying Skunks 01-21-2015 06:00 PM

They were sitting next to a pair of 1100's

Double Rigged 01-21-2015 06:41 PM

Skate is right. Just under 700lbs. Like 690lbs. That is a bunch for a small cat. My x motors are 465 or so. They way I see it is an additional 440lbs eats up 50 hp or so in just weight. I am sure they will accelerate well but question the longevity of the lower unit. Hope they reworked that too.

Flying Skunks 01-21-2015 08:13 PM

The lowers looked Dayum Nice

The new power appears to be targeted towards the big CC's which are basically dominating the market.

It will be interesing to see who will put the $$$$ down to experiment and Verado power on a cat and what the results will be......

We have one widebody waiting in the wings!!!! Thanks Nastybug for letting us live vicariuosly thru your build.

Double Rigged 01-22-2015 06:28 AM

Here is one more thought I wonder if Peter thought about. How about bringing back an entry level 24' Skater Single engine 400hp Verado. Lighter than twins, Would easily run a 100mph, A lot less money than rigging twins.
This would allow some to get back into HP Boating.
I bet he would sell some.

Flying Skunks 01-22-2015 07:34 AM

do you think there is a market for that ?

SkaterMike82 01-22-2015 09:14 AM

Ron i agree that it will sell but i recall Peter saying several yrs ago that now days there was almost no profit on the 24 & 28's. Especially on the 24.

DR, I think you are right on the money there! I'd love the simplicity of a single engine! :ernaehrung004:

I heard that Doug Wright is working in a 26' for a single OB, that should be very interesting to see.

Double Rigged 01-26-2015 01:06 PM

Yes nice boat, but lacks 2015 gadgets.

Double Rigged 01-26-2015 01:08 PM

Hey Tom,
You ran a great number at LOTO this year and I was wondering what engine package you had before the X motors and what gains you have seen?

tom kennedy 01-26-2015 02:45 PM

Pm sent

The mids look different than the Verado 350 SCi!

Maybe they ARE delivering to us a 4 cyl supercharged/turbocharged engine :)

They look like a 300x mid if that is what the picture is.
Would be really cool and funny if Mercury through us all a curve and leaked out a bs lead to not let the cat out of the bag.

nocoolname37 01-30-2015 10:20 PM

^^^^^^^ that is exactly what i was thinking

Or better yet, instead of finally introducing a big and portly 4 stroke, they actually reintroduced a 3.6L hotrod version of a tuned up 300x with a new sporty that could take the power!

Wishful thinking... :D

noli 01-31-2015 02:45 PM

.

I think it'll be a 4 stroke outboard because of EPA constraints and the short film shows a camshaft with 12 lobes.

thus it's proly gonna be a straight 6 4stroke power plant

Taboma 01-31-2015 02:53 PM

I agree, Noli, one shot shows 6 crankcase crankshaft cap locations and one for a timing chain.
