Gentleman -
I just bought a 28 Skater with 300X's. What's everyone running for props? Besides Merc Cleaver (3 blades) in 15 X 32 or 15 X 34? I've heard DeWalds are the ones, but what pitch?
Is it worth talking to Hydromotive or BBlades?
Thanks,
Mike

Bret at BBlades has pulled off so impressive numbers on the smaller Skaters lately but the Dewalds seem to have "the" profiles the 28's run really well with. It seems like you haven't finished testing until you have run Dewalds!

I have read as you all the numbers from other props. I personally do not believe everything I read. If you look at what is documented with videos from Rayzor, myself, taboma, zero etc to name a few the Dewalds have outrun everything I have tried on my 28 hands down. You have a few more options with the 300x setup.
Depends on how you plan to run your boat and what kind of load. You have at least 6800 usable rpm unlike the xs motors. If you call Dave Dewald he will work with you and you can try a number of props. Most of the guys are running 34 4 blade cleavers on the 28 with optis unless you have a really good set up.
When I tried a few mercury 3 blade cleavers on the 28 the dewalds were 3mph faster.
Also just ran some 3 blade mercury labbed cleavers 30p on my 30 in comparsion to a pair of 5 blade through hub dewalds cleaver. The slip numbers were 4% with the dewalds and 7 percent with the mercury ones. Dewalds were much smoother as well. Accelerated better and were almost 2mph faster.

So this is a dumb question, but how do I order a pair of DeWalds? Just call up and say I have a 28 Skater with 300X's ??? Do they need any other information? I haven't even driven this boat yet.
MDS
PS: Any guesses what my 15 X 32 Merc Cleavers (3 blades) will run? They ran 95-99 mph on my Spectre 30 with twin 300XS's.

Mike yes you can just call him when you ready to run the boat for testing. He will work with you. If you are not happy you can swap them out for a different pitch.

What would you recommend for pitch? I think you ran 300X's on your 28 before you sold it?
