So after untaping the top of the fuel tanks we find that tops for the tanks are not really installed. Just two bolts and no gaskets. Had to make our own gaskets and hunt down all hardware/fittings.

Elected not to install cleats. Decded on H/D quick pins instead. Much cleaner look and perfect of the lake.

Hard to believe the tanks weren't done at the factory. What a PIA I guess bare hull means bare hull....

I had to remove all the screws and run Stag on the threads to stop fuel coming up through the threads

Looks really clean Ron! Bob wouldn't spend $3k on Lithium-Ion batteries? They would've saved 60#s over those Optimas. I hate seeing 60#s of unnecessary lead in an outboard rig.......

Double Rigged 07-09-2017 06:22 PM

Dale, These batteries are 38lbs each. Starting batteries only. The Lithium Ion ones he found were 17lbs each.
We figured 40lbs vs $2800.00 the math wasn't worth it. Maybe in the future after we see how it runs.
Can always replace them. Bob was down here yesterday for the day working on it too! Can only hope the interior/paint work gets done!

I guess I'm just not normal, as the weight savings was worth it for me. The Optimas I weighed way-back-when weighed 45#s apiece, vs my Li-On batteries that weigh 17#s apiece, that's where I figured I was saving almost 60#s. By the time I was done buying the batteries and chargers I was around $3,800 vs $500 for a pair of Optimas that I could use my standard Schumacher charger on. It was worth saving almost 60#s for $2,800.00, but that's just me. My girlfriend always jokes that she has to take a laxative before we go boating - and she only weighs 115#s! Bob's 28 is looking really good, I'm looking forward to you guys getting it on the water!
