How does a quality cat such as a 36 Skater compare to a quality deep v such as 37 Outerlimits. Assume they both have stock power 500EFI or 525.

An opinion from the guy who has both and has owned many
hi-perf boats and raced V-bottom for years.

I own a 1998 37 OuterLimits that started out as a HP500,
Bravo, mid 80s boat. I have upgraded the engines, drives
and boat to a best speed of 114mph at 5800rpm at 860+hp.
Presently the boat is de-tuned, engines re-built to 728hp at
5300rpm at 4.1lbs boost and is available FOR SALE. The
OuterLimits is the best built, best running, best looking
V-bottom boat available. Its the top of the V-bottom food
chain. Mike Fiore and family are the best and know how to
take care of a customer.

I have my 2nd 36 SSM#6 Skater in production. The 1st one,
which I ordered just before 9-11, was custom built to my
specs by Peter. Due to market conditions caused by 9-11, it
was necessary to sell this one before I took possession.
The Skater is the best build, best running, best looking Cat
available. Its the top of the Cat food chain and Peter and
team also know how to take care of a customer.

The two boats are totally different, in how they run in flat
water, rough water and how they turn. Both are the best of
V and Cat. Generally, the OuterLimits is more luxurious and
is a better rigging job, the Skater is more speed oriented
and better built hull. Under 100mph, I choose the
OuterLimits. From 100mph to 120mph, its a toss up. Over
120mph, the Skater is the only choice. It really comes down
to personal preference and use, and how fast you go most of
the time. Additional MPH per HP makes the Cat, my personal
preference.

Just my opinion.

Wow! I couldn't have said it better my self. I have never owned an Outerlimits, but do extensive reading on boats in general. They are both tops in their field.
