Re: small honda generator
Not a good idea, as the fumes will end up the cabin area, and you'll be a statistic the next morning ! Dont do it.
Strap it on the swim platform when in use.... bungee cords or docklines. Lots of guys I know use the EU2000 with great success for overnighting & runs everything from the AC ( after its been started and running, as starting really draws alot initially ) to the bat charger & microwave all at once ! It runs all night on one tank of gas and its super quiet

Re: small honda generator
There was a discussion recently on this same topic and as GFB45 states, fumes is an issue although you could probably pipe it out without too much trouble. The big issue that someone brought up caught my attention and that is with the generator not being rated for marine use which means it's not equiped for nonspark safety... my buddy runs it off the swimdeck as well... Having the generator in the engine compartment is a great idea, just not a safe one.
You would need an air tight compartment to separate it from the engine room to avoid fumes, then you have to vent it out, but you would still need to have air from somewhere to support the generator and cool it...
Be safe and good luck!!

We put ours the swim platform and it works great. We have a Honda EU2000i. Runs A/C, fridge, batt. charger, etc.
I put a battery operated CO2 detector in the cabin.

How big is you AC unit? Does the Honda generator start your AC unit w/o a problem? I have a 31ss w/ a 5000 btu Cruisair. Will the Honda 2000 start the 5000 btu unit without damage to the compressor?
