Viper7, what year 358 do you have, power? And what are your observations regarding porpoising?

I've heard issues with the 358's that have the notch, but haven't heard anything since.

31 or 38 not the 35 unless it is an older one.

I have found with my 2005 358 with twin 525's that I had to keep the tabs slightly down and the drives tucked until you were around 3500 to 4000 RPM's. However, I changed from the Merc Bravo 1 30 pitch props to Hydromotive P5-X 5 blades and it made a day and night difference in the way the boat handled. Any porposing was practically eleminated along with some cavitation that had been there with the Bravo 1 's. On top of those gains I also picked up 3 MPH top end to 82 MPH.The 5 blades give extra stern lift to the boat to keep the nose down. I also changed tabs from the 22" long that came with the boat to 28" long and this help the boat at slower speeds and helped to keep the nose down espically when pulling knee boarders or tubes. I think Sonic has increased their tab size to 36" which I think is to much. The Hydromotive 5 Blades are the real deal. I think the 36" tabs would be overly sensative when moving them because of the 35' Boat length.

I have an 03 358 Sonic and have the same problems at cruising speeds. What is the pitch on your new hydromotives and what do a pair of them run in price. Thanks

The Hydromotive 5 blades are 27 pitch and cost around $1000.00 Each.
