Thanks, Jim. I know you're an electrician. But, electrical stuff is not my favorite thing and this was a big challenge for me.
Since the cockpit light was displaced by the subwoofer, I decided to go with LED lighting as a replacement. I found these nice units from Seamaster and chose all blue LEDs. The camera had a tough time head-on with the lights. They don't really look white. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Sonic/led3.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Sonic/led2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Sonic/led5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...Sonic/led1.jpg |
Wow those look great, you found another nice improvement. Do you think the blue led's now give off as much light as the OEM white light? I like it!

I've wanted to upgrade the stereo since I bought the boat and finally finished today. I used a JL Audio M600/6 amp and a total of 9 JL audio speakers. There are two 6.5" in the cabin. Then, there are six 7.7" and a single 10" sub in the cockpit. The stereo unit is a Fusion that docks an i-Pod internally. It's all controlled by a remote on the dash, so the wife can play DJ. The sound is amazing! I also really like the 3 zones. I can control the cabin, the sub, and the cockpit volume all individually.

How does it sound with just one sub?

Perfect! I'm not trying to win a loud contest. I just wanted a clean sounding system. Those 7.7's put out some bass, too.

That's what I'm looking for, clean sound loud enough to hear over the engines while running. What kind of power are you giving the sub?

I made an addition to the sound system today. While the stereo sounded great in the cockpit, it was tough to hear when floating behind the boat in the water. I had enough power to run another pair of JL Audio 7.7's, but the challenge was finding the parts to make it work. I found motorcycle mounts from Techmounts that worked on the 7/8" rail which bolted onto Krypt tower bullet speaker cans. Then, I used Neutrik locking connectors for a quick disconnect. These will only be mounted when anchored.
