The weather finally cooperated today and I was out for about 4 hours on the St. Croix River. I pulled the turbulator plates from the exhaust and tested the new stock 28's followed by my Mercury-labbed 28's. Unfortunately, the water was very flat and the temp was about 65 degrees. Once again, my results were a little disappointing. I was expecting some gains because of the exhaust, but actually ran .7 MPH slower than the last time out. Hopefully, it was because of the flat water. Both tests were with the props spinning out with 1/16" toe-out.
Stock 28P Bravos - 74.0 average @ 4900 Labbed 28P Bravos - 74.5 average @ 5000 My boat definitely likes the labbed 28's best. I plan to talk with Bblades to see if Brett can do better than Mercury. It was still a fun day. A guy in a late-90's 33 Baja OL waited for me to make it through a no-wake zone going downriver. The moment I got on plane, he did too. So, I knew the race was on. I'd say I had about 2 MPH on him. Funny, he didn't want to race when we met again going upriver. :evilb: |

AHHH Got to love the 1-2mph walk away.
It really drives the other guy crazy.Congrats |
Wife laughs at me when I spend a grand chasing 1mph, but sometimes thats the difference between winning and losing. Go out in 5' seas, you will have 20mph on the Baja.

The most fun I ever had beating a Baja Outlaw was about 5 years ago when I first got my Waverunner over the 70 MPH mark. I came up along side the guy running south on the Mississippi River and got him to race. We were neck and neck. But then, I got into what's called the Superman position where you lay on the seat and hang your legs off the back of the ski. It gets the bow out of the water and is good for 1 MPH. I started walking on him. His extremely hot girlfriend gave me the thumbs up while he sat there cursing and shaking his head. From there, I spent another $6K and hundreds of hours getting the ski to 80 MPH. I'm sick! :drink:

It was a windy day on the water, yesterday. So, there was some nice chop. I ran 75.2 with the stock 28's. My labbed 28's are at Bblades getting tweaked. I can't wait to see what they will run in similar conditions.
