Default Installed new motors, speed sucks!!

Okay guys, I need help. I had two scorpions installed in my Sonic 30SS and top speed is a mere 62 MPH on full fuel and water tanks in fresh water. WHAT THE H...????

With Bravo I props I expected at least 71 MPH and hoped for 75 MPH+. Labbed Bravo Is are on the way, but are unlikely to achieve the speeds I expected.

Several boats of similar weight to mine have been feautured in Powerboat mag, with scorpions, and they are doing 75 MPH+.

I dont think your combination will see that MPH....my 31ss with 454's at 475hp only runs 74mph. The factory told me I could pick up some speed with 2" shorter drives the X on the older sonics is real conservative. The boats that you are reading about are they stepped bottoms? how many RPM's are you running?

Thanks Dano. Obviously my 1988 weighs much more than I thought. It does crush the waves really well though. <ggg>

Popped it into the ocean with lab finished props, it looks like 67 MPH + now at 5,000 RPMs, before both engines conked out. <gg>

Much happier, but another puzzle to work out.

Speed sounds a little better! Did engines fire back up? Could rev. limiters be set too low?

Seems some folks decided to help me ward off the possibility of bad gas ruining a trip by setting the fuel tank selectors to run off the right tank only. They were way too sophisticated for me.

No wonder that guage was dropping so fast with two engines sucking from one tank!! My mechanic told me a couple of years ago to always run with port tank, port motor, starboard tank, starboard motor "otherwise you will screw yourself up some day."

Well, it just happened. <gg> Obviously a big relief to discover operator deficiency on my part. Ha ha, joke is on me.
