I have a bone stock 502 with EMI thunder exhaust and no captains call... Also a Bravo 1 24p, unlabbed prop.

Ive never been over 65 in any condition water and varying amounts of fuel and water.

I also have no added options on the boat. My toilet is a 5 gallon Port-o-pottie. (So no holding tank) No AC, No generator, no fridge or microwave.....

I think 65 is the baseline for a stock motor and stock prowler.

Although Ive heard the weight changes from model year to model year. Mine is a 99...

The heads came in today! Just about the last piece of the puzzle. The short block is finished as well. Will have the motor back next week. Install will probably take 2 weeks then its test time. Ill post some pictures when Im done as well.

The motor is in and running! Sounds like a beast! Crisp throttle response. Im going out Saturday to break in the motor under load and test props. Im going to start with a 4 blade 26p and go up to a 28 or down to a 24 depending on what I get out of the 26. Fingers crossed lookin for 78-80 on mechanical speedo.

Why not use a GPS so you know what you're really going? You can get a Garmin eTrex for less than $100. Good luck with it!

I bet your gonna have to have 700hp to see 80. Im no expert in sonics but im guessing it will be a scary ride at 80. You basically have a 24ft boat..im guessing it will be unstable. Better upgrade to 280have k planes and full hyd steering, xr drive, and a shorty if you want 80. There goes another 12k. Lol

I just hooked up a GPS and downloaded the Speedo app for my droid along with the gasbuddy app for the cheapest gas stations. lol

We will see how fast it goes this weekend. I dont think +10 to12 mph on the mechanical speedo(which was 67w/4blade 69 w/3blade) is unatainable. Ill sink this M'fer before I put another dime into it!
