Here it is! My mechanical speedo f'n broke which sucks because I really wanted to see a comparison but here is what I was able to do on GPS. I have no previous GPS numbers which sucks as well.

Same 22p 4 blade I buried the tach at 6k and went 64mph with 5 people in the boat yesterday evening. Great air low temps and humidity.

I put a 26p 4 blade on it and ran 67mph at 4950rpms with 2 people and worse air this morning. Higher temps and more humidity.

I then put a 24p 4 blade and ran 70.6 @5400 in the same coniditions.

I could have gotten over 71 if I kept playing with it. Since its all new I didnt want to run it too long at WOT. As the motor breaks in I am hoping for another 200-300 rpms. If I get the additional rpm's this should put me really close to 75mph on gps. If Im estimating properly I want to say that originally the boat ran about 60mph on GPS based on the 65-67 mechanical speedo. All said and done Im looking at about 15mph gain with the upgrades. Im gonna play with timing a little and see what happens. All in all I am so far very satisfied cuz when you crack the throttle from cruising at about 3600 rpms it screams and throws you back in your seat. HUGE DIFFERENCE!

Big shout out due to Bob Madara at Marine Kinetics for putting the kit together for me and putting up with all my calls and emails. He knows his ISH! and Brian Roache at Brian Roache racing engines in Dundalk MD for putting it all together for me. He redid the bottom end and put the top end together for me in less than a week. I couldnt speak higher of these two guys. I got what I wanted so far and Im sure the reliability will be there as well.

what rpm are you suppose to be spinning this motor at for peak hp and torque? thats a great improvement for sure. im guessing you top out around 73gps. reguardless...70 is movin'

KOMPLEX1 06-27-2011 05:16 PM

Peak HP on the dyno sheet was at 5879 rpm's. 5400 rpm's is 600hp even and 584 ft lbs of torque. I increased fuel octance and timing from the dyno sheet tho. Peak torque is at 4600.
Im gonna keep my fingers crossed for 75.

So if your picking up 10 mph with 50 more hp, please tell me your secert and what I need to change. I was disappointed when I only saw 70. Are you running a shorty? Wanted to try one, but never did.

drive height and balance makes a world of different. dynos are known to be off. some builders set theres up for perfect air and temps and humidity to give you high #s. builders I have used Dean Gellner out of ohio and Jim Reid out of mass. use natural setting during the summer and keep it close to it other times. my motors were dynoed in june or july hot sticky days on my Gellner motor made 1114hp on pump gas. it would of made more on some others:evilb:. your boat like my 28 saber and 24 ol are straight bottom with deep x 14 to 15''= drive height 6 1/2 to7 5/8'' which is DEEP and slow. my 24 with 585hp then 595hp then 637hp would hit 74 to 76 gps. I went to a 2'' shortie imco[mercs is slower] and changed the carb set up got 650hp = 83.2 gps with same prop a 26b1. at 5900 to 6000rpm. was getting 5300 at 76. on the river I got 5800 = 80gps. the saber had a X of 14'' new one is 17 1/2'' with a box and konrad ace drive shooting for a 100. a friends 30foot single sutphen with 900hp to 950 hp was at 90 ,92 x was 17'' with a 1'' shortie he pick up 2 mph. step boats are running 18 plus ''. so SONIC your on your way.

Sonic, I would like to talk to you to pick you brain. If we're rining close to the same power,I'm no where close to your speed. Maybe we can exchange #'s throught email.
