and to add one more thing......when running with 6-7 people on board there is plenty of room for people to be sitting and then another row of people standing while holding on to bolsters.........and as was stated befor the cabins in the 358 and the 386 are the same size......

Take Chris up on his tour, you will love it. I think the 38 has the best of both worlds. It has plenty of room, good in rough water, and it dosen't take tons of horsepower to push it.

Exactly how much extra space is in the engine compartment. You have to be double jointed in 9 different ways to change a starter or spark plug in a 31

Nice boat!

One more question guys, did the 358 replace the 35ss? If so what year did this happen. Is the brand new 35 a 358 or a 35ss style?
|
Yes it did. I think it was 1997 or 1998? I may be at harbor fest. Come introduce yourself if you see me.
We both have broke in our names because we have both owned the same 31 named Go For Broke. There are actually 3 people with that screen name on oso. |
One thing about cockpits, they do vary from boat to boat of the same model, depending how they were ordered.
The 386 has about 18" ahead of the engines, enough room for a generator. |
4bus, we have a 358 and love it. We have two kids and we can all sleep comfortably and do it every weekend. You're more than welcome to take a tour of ours if you ever around Sacandaga Lake, Broadalbin, NY area. We have 500efi's and they move the boat in the low 70's. Great boat and handles the rough the stuff perfectly.

Hey thanks, I will actually be in that area later at the end of this month, however it will be on a thursday or friday day hours. Pm me if you would be around during the day.
What year is your 358? Finally got a guy on the phone at sonic, he was telling me the 2003+ have a light layup and do low 70's with 496ho and 80+ with 500efi??? Sounded to good to be true. |
He is correct I owned a 31 with 500 EFI's I saw 84 on GPS Jim Diesel owns it now and has labbed props and claims 86. I have an article where Teague test drove the 496 boat and claims 76.
