Mine is a 2002 358 and I have twin 575sci's.......just this year I have seen a high of 84-85 on my GPS speedo......the 575's are rated at 550 at the prop......I couldn't see why a boat with 500's wouldn't see high 70's to 80.......

I must have a slug then, mine is a 358 with 500efi's i have only seen 74 turning 5200 rpm's. Its been that way from day one. Maybe we got a crappy pair of motors or maybe we didn't get the light layup.

Unless you have CMI's for your exhaust, changing plugs will be fun in anything unless its a 45 Still prob tight with the CMI's on anything under 45 due to engine spacing and boat engine compartment size. My previous 42 had Gill exhaust, and you had to be Gumbi to change the plugs among other things. Could barely fit a hand between the manifolds with your hand open flat.
The 45- no problem changing plugs and working on things. Plenty of room between & around engines. 10 minutes or less to change plugs all around. |

Honestly Gill exhaust is the worst for plug removal, even when you have room. Headers or SM is much easier. I haven't seen the engine bay of the 35, but my friends 31 looks as if a piece of paper would be hard to get in between the manifolds. BUT, you can walk around the entire boat :) The 45 and 42 are nice, but I don't want such a big boat to haul, definately do not want tripps, and I don't want my buddy sharing a seat with me when we are poker running :grinser010: All kidding aside the 45 is a dream boat, just too much for my budget and short season. |
