Default Differences between a 31 and a 35

Im looking to get into something a little more friendly for overnighting but I still want a performance boat, no effing Sea Rays for me, no way!!!!.....I have been looking for a 31 with that awesome pull out bed but there is a guy with a 35 who might be willing to trade plus cash as he wants a smaller day boat.....these days a trade would work better for both of us.

Ive checked out a 31 but Ive never even seen a 35 and the boat is pretty far away......Im wondering what the differences are between the two boats.....could a 6 footer and his little wife sleep in the V berth? is the 35 beamier? cockpit size? head size? could you make a drop in cushion so you could sleep in the centre? the boat is a 97 thanks D

A 97 35 has a couple inches more headroom than a 31. Some came with filler cushions for between the facing lounges, making a huge bed. I'm sure they could be made if it doesn't have them. I think the center of the v berth is over 6' long. It has a much larger cockpit than a 31 also.

I can tell you the 35SS and 358 (2001 and up is 358) are a lot different.

The 358 has a stand up cabin, larger than the 35ss. The 35ss is basically a 31 ss stretched out. the 358 is a 386 shortened up. the 358 has a small sun deck, engines are under back seat, cockpit is tighter than a 35ss, but the cabin is huge for a 35 ft boat. The cabin is the exact dimension of a 386. Freeboard on a 358 is at least 6 inches more than a 35ss.

Both great boats, and the 35ss still has a larger cabin than most 33'-35 offshore boats. The 358 is just over the top, not a boat in that class that has the cabin room of the 358.

We overnight a lot, trying to make a deal on a 358 as we speak.
