Sonic Only Raftup & or Run......
Would anyone be interested in getting togather this summer for a Sonic Only Raftup & or Poker Run on the Chesapeake Bay area this summer ?
Am interested in maybe organizing and or getting some help to do this, but need to know if there an interest & enough Sonic owners to persue this event. I realize that with the impending war, gas prices may be even more outrageous than they already are. I have heard of premium fuel prices at land based gas stations @ $2.00per gallon already. Bottom line....fuel prices may limit boating for several owners. Anyone interested post your interests & we will see what we can come up with. Thanks ! |
That sounds like fun.
A poker run might be fun |
Count me in. If you need any help PM me.
I like the idea.
If I buy one ...I'm there.
Sounds good to me. Just name the date and location.
Im glad that there are some responses..... with all the views I would have assumed more interested Sonic owners. We need more than 5 to get this going.
Com on Guy's/Ladies..... lets do this ! |
To far for me but I'll be there in spirit!!!
Count me in. Just name the Place and time
Yeah, what "thesonic28" said:cool:
If I still have mine I'll be there, but I am shoping.I live in Stafford Va. where are we talking about doing this.
I live on the river and Have dock that will hold 10 or so boats with some rafting up, two hot tub's, bar, pool table, you know all the stuff you need after a day on the water. |
Glad to see more replys & interest. Hopefully we can get some more. Then we can figure out exactly what the interested parties would like to do, a Poker Run or Raftup. Then we can plan from there.
LOR, sounds like you live at a cool place......will keep that in mind. I assume your place can be gotten to from the Bay ? Not too many places to launch a 42 Sonic from a trailer ! |
It's right off the Potomac river on Aquia Creek about 45min down to the bay. I'am about half way from 301 bridge to D.C. The Private boat ramp is 2 hundred yards from my dock as long as the river isn't real low it's no prob. to get a 42 on or off.
LOR, plan on some company this season!
That's why I got the place, get you guy's all drunk in the hot tub then go down to the dock and start swaping all the good part's to my boat.
LOR Count me in :D
Do I already know some of you potomac river guy's, I got the 42 named Lapse of Reason hang out in Mattowoman, Tim's 1 &2, my name is Greg.
Team Sonic42 where are you coming from??
I've had two 42 Sonics that I trailered and launched into the Potomac maybe I could guide you to a good ramp I know I won't be able to be included due to the fact that we don't have a Sonic anymore. But willing to help just the same |
I also raft up at Mattawoman, Tims, Fairview, Port Tobacco, Billy's, Pier III (Gilligans), Georgetown. I think we've met before at Leesylvania and Mattawomen. I was on a 45 sonic with scoops.
LOR, we have been rafted in Mattawoman before. I know most of the gang. Didn't you have a place across from Random Hills Road in Fairfax before that area was bought out? I used to live around the corner off of Ridgetop.
There are about four 26 Sonics in the area with colors similar to mine. I think I have the only 500EFI though. Here is a link to my gallery: http://www.offshoreonly.com/gallery/...at=500&thumb=1 Glad to hear you have a nice place on the water. I hope Neda and I have a chance to stop by this summer. We are trying to upgrade, but we have to build a house first. |
yep that's me the old house was in fairfax. Atomic Sonic you are the guy that had/has a top gun also right with all the kids right.
43Thunder, I primarily boat on the mid/northern end of the bay. Annapolis, Baltimore, St. Michaels, West, South, Magothy, & Severn Rivers, etc. Have never been in the potomac except down by Solomons Island.
BTW, how do you like your BT vs the Sonic ? I have looked at the BT, and think they are nice BIG boat. Curious to get an honest opinion since you have had both, especially if you had a 42 Sonic. |
lor, hang out alot in Mattawoman, used to have a 28 purple and teal with a arch. I spent some time at Tims and Billy's Saturdays at Mattawoman, Sunday on the Bay.
I can't say I remember a 28 with a arch, but that might be Corona's fault.
Atomic Sonic is John's (Offshore Score with the 45 Sonic) ex wife. John has the 45 Sonic. Audra has the 28 Sonic; which is for sale in hopes to upgrade. She keeps it on the lift at Gecko's.
Hey, with all this chatter this thing may happen afterall ?
I'm in! It would be a sight to see all those Sonics in one place, thundering along! |
Sydwayz, what did you hit in that flying pic a wake?
The water looks pretty calm, and how was the landing? |
LOR, I was on the 45 and am the future ex and he did have the 38 top gun and only 2 boys. I am the one you told you were married but wouldn't bring your wife out until she lost some weight.:D I didn't have a very high opinion of you at that time but we all grow up:D See you soon on the water if this D*MN snow would ever go away.
My wife told me she wasn't going until she lost weight, I think she look's fine,(5'7" 125#) as far as the kids I have two boy's that will be 6&14 by the time boating start's and they get bored out on the river all day so I'am trying to find somebody to hang with that has kids. You can ask any of my freinds my wife and I fight about her not comming on the boat.Sorry if I didn't make a good first impression
LOR, I have two boys... 12,15. They are always out with us. We stay out almost every weekend. I have every option that Sonic offered and then some......Radar, Autopilot, etc. So if they kids get bored, I kick on the Generator, turn on the A/C, and they watch TV, watch videos, or play video games. May have to hook up some time, as the kids do like to have other kids to hang with.
We sometimes take their friends out, but not often..... |
That was Potomac River PR 2001, and I hit the all of a sudden combined wake of 3-35 foot plus cruisers heading up the river at 30mph or so. There were three rollers, all 4-6 feet. We skipped across the first two, landed in the trough, and drove up the third like a sheet of plywood; with just the pad in the water. Helicopter was 200 feet to SB. Landing was very nice, and very lucky. I did not back off the throttle much; as it was so fast. We were doing about 45-50 mph. The prop sort of carried the weight of the boat back into the water, and we levelled out a bit better by landing. That pic was taken upon re-entry, and we were at least 2-3 feet higher at peak. The boat went perfectly straight, with a relatively nice landing, and only leaned a bit due to prop TQ. I know. We were lucky. Significant APF on that one. (Ass Pucker Factor).
I got the a/c, gen, ps2,tv,vcr,all that crap but you know kids never happy. That was one of the reasons we got the new house on the water so when they get sick of being there I can take them home, and not have to load up the boat on the trailer. I have allways been a little scared about taking somebody's kid's out, cut a leg on the prop loose my house, or the dreded mom some girl took her top off and showed everybody, great now I'am in kiddie porn.
Team 42. LOR with his 42 and Mark House with his 37AT, are able to launch regularly at Leesylvania State Park, in Woodbridge, VA; via trailer ramp. In Low Tide, with a breeze eastward, the ramp gets shallow, but I do not know of anyone who could not retrieve there. Just keep the drives up. It is all mud there.
Brian, thanks for the info. Thats about an 80+ mile drive from my place. How far up the potomac from the bay is this ramp ? I know a couple members from the CPBPA club went up the potomac from the bay for the DC poker run last year. Took them 4 hours to get to DC running in 40' Excaliburs about 40mph or so from Sandy Point at the base of the Bay Bridge. I can ran from Annapolis to Solomons in less than an hour, about a 50-60 mile I think. Cruise about 50.......
LOR, thats why we rarely take the kids friends out. Sometimes you never know what you may run into. One time at a local hang out, with about 80-100 boats, this girl decides to strip out of her thong bathing bathing suit and proceeded to dance naked on the front deck of their boat for a good while. I had no problem with it :) but not good for the kids, had to send them below decks. Luckily had been keepin an eye on that boat for a while as she got more daring, once the top came off, sent the kids below. They never saw anything, they just watched TV for a while. Thats just one of the few topless or nude events I have personally witnessed. Few and far between....... |
I don't happen to much down here much either but it only take's once. My older son is 14 I wont be able to get him to go down in the cabin not willing anyway.
LOR, Yea I know what you mean...... the 12 yr old could care less right now, but the 15yr old..... hormones on overdrive ! Twists his neck off to look at any girl. Can imagine what it will be like this year. Luckily the aforementioned incident happened a few yrs ago, so he didnt care back then, but now it is a different story.
Hart Miller Island, just outside of Baltimore, is rumored to have a nude beach area at one end. Just heard that last year. Dont know if any truth to it. Great place to hang out down here, vendors on the water that will deliver to your boat.... Pizza, Burgers, Dogs, Pit Ham/Beef, Itialin Ice, Snow Cones, etc. Anchor in about 3ft of clear water ( used to be when I was there last ) and also can walk to vendors. Tons of boats. Didnt make it there last year as boat was in the shop most of the summer with engine work. Will have to check it this year, without the boys, atleast the one end ! |
I went to a nude beach in South Beach once and only about 40% were good looking, and thats in Miami. You might want to put your beer googles on before you go to one in Baltimore.
I figured the same thing ! Figured on checkin it out from the water.
LOR Didn't you also go to the Bahamas at some point. If so I would like to talk to you about going there. Might want to try that run later this year IF it ever warms up so we can unshrinkwrap tha boat.
I done it twice and I can't type that much give me a call. 703 362-8011. Carlos the guy with the 460BT has been all over the Bahamas I guess he has put a 1000 hours on three boats over there. He has been going two times a year for two weeks a time since 92or93. do you have his #.
