Because of expected rain, I celebrated Father's Day early today by taking my step-dad and my 17 yr. old son out for a guy's ride. We didn't slow down for the rough stuff like I do with the women and had the boat completely out of the water once. It was a blast! :evilb:

You guys must be out there using your boats. Let's see some water shots.

Here is our new to us 03 31ss w/ 575's. Boat came to us dirty and had the wrong outdrives (1 bravo 1 IMCO and a xr but both were junkers). Last year it had two mint XR's but then misteriously the junkers were put on before the repo man showed... But none the less... we got it for a steal and are extremely happy with it!

Ouch on the new XR's but at-least you know what you have now, I have XR's as well and had them gone thru this winter and im pretty happy with them. What part of Indiana you from?

SonicBunny 07-18-2009 02:04 PM

We are in South Bend area... right at the michigan border. Yeah, the XR's are nice but the price tags aren't. But, for what we paid for the boat... We could dump 60k into it and still be ahead...

I guess you havent had the boat on the water yet? Let me know if you ever get down this way, and go Irish

SonicBunny 07-19-2009 04:44 PM

We are hoping to have it in the water by next weekend, I can hardly wait. We did see it last year on the water and hoped one day that it would be ours..and it is.

PROMAN 07-20-2009 10:17 AM

Congrats.... Would love to know the true numbers when you get it in the water. Speed on gps, rpms, and what prop you are using. My friend wants to buy a 31 and put some power serious power to it. Please keep us posted. Have fun... Me and my family absolutely love our 31.Best all around 30+ footer in its class out there in my opinion..

I think the previous owner had it just shy of 100mph. He posted on here a fair amount, but I can't remember his screen name. You ought to be able to find some posts over the last two years though.

SonicBunny 07-20-2009 12:42 PM

Yeah, we were actually looking at this boat last year when they owned it. My husband has called him several times but he wont anwser or return phone calls,..... We have seen all there posts too...

KY, what year is your boat? It's amazing how the 31SS has remained the same for so long.

BTW, is KY for Kentucky or the brand? :D

FuelinAround 08-26-2009 01:42 PM

LOL Kentucky. Born and raised. It s a 1989. The hull designs havent changed a ton but I love the walk around platform. I am about to do a dash upgrade ad snap in carpet. I think I will look like a mid 90's model after that.

I remember seeing you down here at Ky lake last year with a 26 Sonic, were you located?

FuelinAround 08-26-2009 03:55 PM

It has been on KY Lake before but not yet this year. I bought it from a good buddy of mine that owned it less than a season. I am located inOwensboro. We are headed to Lake of the Ozarks for the bud shootout with her this weekend and hope to make KY Lake in 3 weeks or so. What do you ride? Mightsee you in the party cove

FuelinAround 08-26-2009 03:56 PM

Nevermind I see it now. Nice sonic. I would love to have a paint scheme like that. Talking to some painters now actually :)

Mine is actually vinyl sticker. But you get down this way let me know.

Also do you know Mitch Hall from Hall Marine in Owensboro, he rebuilt my XR's over the winter and done a great job. So if you ever need anything look him up.

bigboat28 08-26-2009 09:22 PM

Sonic Bunny that boat is sweet. I tried for almost a year to trade that guy for my cruiser boat. Congrats on it.

SonicBunny 08-27-2009 12:44 AM

bigboat... thanks... we enjoy it... it grabs a lot of attention whether we are in tow behind the truck or on the water...:drink:

Geez, I thought I posted my pic on here a long time ago.
I've owned this boat for 8 years '87 30SS....it's my first boat too. Done a ton of work to it notice the faring, carbon fiber and GPS mounting. Thats my wife in Sag Harbor wiping a tear from her eye because the bottle of wine is empty:drink:

FuelinAround 08-27-2009 08:52 AM

Yeh I know Mitch real well. We actually boat together. He is a great mechanic and the only person other than me who touches my boat. THAT IS VINYL STICKER???!!! Do you have problems with bouy's rubbing through when your tied up? I am sure vinyl has to be cheaper than the 15k price I got on painting it

bigboat28 08-27-2009 10:16 AM

Sonic 30SS do you have any stress cracks along the walkway anywhere on the bow or anywhere else on the boat?

HiPerf2000 08-27-2009 12:20 PM

If he is rubbing up against "bouy's" he will have more than a vinyl repair bill. :lolhit:

think you mean 'fenders' ;)

bigboat28 08-27-2009 12:30 PM

Cracking along the edge of the walkway on a 31SS, is that anything to worry about or is that normal on all 31's. The boat is a 1988.

HiPerf2000 08-27-2009 12:35 PM

Mine had a crack on the front right...right above the walkway about halfway up. Doesn't leak and doesn't seem to spread any. I measured it off and check it every once in awhile to see if it is spreading. THROW SOME VINYL OVER HER!
