4 years ago we had drought and lake was very low, next year we had flood and lake was closed for July 4th , last 2 years we had drought and lake went to record lows, now they are predicting floods again for this year.
Between the typically crazy Texas weather and the increasing demand for water from Lake Travis from more and more people moving to Austin I think we will be seeing a lot more up and down swings than has been normal...

NOAA releases Flood Forecast

AUSTIN (KXAN) - NOAA just released its Flood Forecast for spring. Experts are predicting a good possibility of flooding for Central Texas.

"We're delivering an urgent message to citizens throughout the country and that message is get ready for flooding this spring," said National Weather Service Director Jack Hayes. "The flood risk is above average over a third of the country."

In Central Texas, NOAA is predicting wetter-than-average conditions with the possibility of flooding.

"Our major concern in the Southern tier of the United States is our ongoing El Nino," said Hayes. "We have seen throughout the winter that we've had the heavy rains and that's one of the things that we're watching. And that goes roughly from Texas to Florida."

In fact, the area's rainfall totals for the year are doing exceptionally well. Austin's Camp Mabry has a surplus of more than 2 1/2 inches, thanks to the area's wetter-than-normal fall and winter.

This cold weather is getting to me. Was outside doing yardwork yesterday, and those chilled 35MPH winds were blowing right through me. I need a beach, a beverage, and 90degrees ASAP.

No kidding, it was windy as hell here in Houston too. I wonder how long it's going to take for the water to warm up this year. I sure can't wait for a nice day to get a raft-up going in Cow Creek!!!

This weekend didn't help. Water temp of Travis, 55 degs.

at 6am, Lake Travis ventured almost 1 inch into the flood pool.

Its about time the lake is up this high, we were at something around 630 last fall.

Spent the whole day spring cleaning and waxing the yacht. Very windy all day, so decided to spare the cruise until later. White caps out there were pretty impressive.

we went out yesterday on Jareds ( Sweet Addiction ) Checkmate ,
he came over by boat earlier and parked at my marina to help me work on my boat then later we went over to The Pier for lunch and rum runners where we met up with a few others. Another good day on Lake Travis.
Good thing we did because this coming weekend is supposed to be rainy , we may even get thunderstorms.

Went to lake Austin on Saturday, it was amateur night to the fullest. Saw at least 5 boats getting towed, I towed a man and his daughter. People blowing through no wake zones, and at full speed coming within like 20 feet of each other, 1 cop on the lake and he called it a day around 4:00. Suprised there wasn't any wrecks.

Does anyone know of any "larger" enclosed dry boat storages around the FM 620 / Hudson Bend area of the lake? Preferrably looking for Aluminum bldg, concrete flooring, security gates. The ones on the internet I am finding are either too short (I need at least 37' long) or have gravel flooring.

Thanks in advance!

Just put down a deposit for a house for aquapalooza, found one with a boat dock and pool, going to be a lot of fun!

Needing to look into this very soon. Did you pay premium for that weekend? I figure it will be same as holiday rates/minimums. Where or how did you find the rental?

Thanks.

Nope, regular rates for summer, had to drop a $500 deposit which was BS but whatever. Place I got is 3 story, sleeps 12, ping pong/foosball table, gated community, on the water, private boat ramp, trailer storage, and private dock(which is a HUGE bonus) for the boats. Also has a community pool and weight room. Oh and did I mention its just around the corner south of the Reserve where they are having the events.

I don't think the owner knows what that weekend is.

I found my place on CL but through this website. I dealt directly with the owner which was really nice.

Houses are filling up though, I wouldn't screw around if you are serious about coming.

Anybody have any contacts for buying a boat lift for a 30 Outlaw (8,000 lb +/-) new or used on Lake Travis?

May check out the local craigslist ads, I see used lifts on there from time to time.

Will do. Thanks!

Call David Villareal, 512.635.0269. He works with all marinas and has been in the biz for a long time. I purchased my lift from him, and had him do install in my slip. Very good service and value.
