While I am not QUITE in the Tickfaw area (LOL) I am close enough to invite you guys to a poker run I am organizing to benefit my local rotary club. Trying to pick a date. Looking at the second week of June at the earliest to some time in July. Anyone interested or have any input on dates?

More info in a week or two.

Up here on the Ouachita around Monroe. The stops are still being determined as are the host establishment and the date. By car from Hammond it is 3 1/2 hrs (make adjustments for towing a boat). For my out of town friends, I'll probably get a host hotel with plenty of space for boat parking that's convenient to a boat ramp. There are no real navigation hazards to speak of nearby on this river, but there are a couple of wake zones. I'll have a pretty good map drawn up, so no worries there.

Again - still in the planning phase, so nothing definite, but I am contemplating a 100% payout for high hand, and donated items for 2nd, 3rd, and low hand. If everything goes right, only the cardstop sponsor money and any donations will go to the club. Working on a band for after the run, too.

AND - since it's a river, the water will be flat so you and JLay can make all the stops! LOL:drink:

Croozin2 01-31-2011 06:51 PM

That sounds cool. Keep us updated!!

Jeff was asking if I was going Saturday, wish I was but have a birthday party to attend. I am planning on getting the boat off the lift Sunday and running it a little before I put it on the trailer.

That place is a no go by water, no dock and to shalow It's in Laplace. So me and jeff ran to maddisonville. At 11:50am the mouth of the tickfaw had a fog so thick could only see 30' so in front of the boat. Stayed like that most of the way to manshack. Then no fog. It was kind of creepy driving in. Thank god for mapping gps's never would have got there.

jmeng 02-20-2011 08:30 PM

Sounds like an interesting day. Can't wait to get on the water but got a lot of cleaning and some maintenance to do first...

WHAAAT? I'll have to get you in the apache in the lake with some 3-4's. I think we would be down for it. It's always cool to go to a new place. Having been shown around by the man himself (x-rated) i have to say it is a cool place to boat and not worry about cypress stumps and crab traps! We should get a group of us to go up there. I think a lot of guys from down here would be suprised how many "go-fast" boats are up that way.

P.S. Let us know if we need a permit to cross the mason-dixon line (alexandria)!

LAriverratt 02-25-2011 03:04 PM

Ptufaro 02-25-2011 09:13 PM

jmeng 02-27-2011 05:38 PM

Went down today for a while. Didn't do any riding but got a lot of little things cleaned up on the boat. Another 2 days of cleaning and the interior should be ready to go. :grinser010:

Don't worry, you'll pass right by it on the way to Biloxi in a few months. :D

It's a great run, we usually try to get over there a couple of times a summer.

LAriverratt 02-28-2011 09:31 AM

didn't go out in the lake..was a little to rough for Patti...I would have liked to run a little while and get some more seat time in the rough though...she just doesn't care for airing the boat out at all...:lolhit: she said "GET A CRUISER!!!!"

My wife says the same thing that's why she never come's with me. It wasn't too bad on the ride there but the ride back it was white cappin and easily 3'. Not a bad ride though. We did not see any other boat's out in the lake on the east side (guess it's just a little too early). It was still nice to get out on the water though.

LAriverratt 03-01-2011 01:56 PM

definitely a nice day out. had a few other boats around but most stayed in the river. still a little early over here to make many stops though..come on summer!!!

Still in the planing phase. Looks like June 12 (sunday) unless some of the peeps from the Tickfay area chime in, and I will make it the 11th (Saturday). If you guys are interested in getting a group together, I will get a hotel lined up with boat parking. I have it about 50% lined out, and shortly I will try to get the flyers printed up. Band is booked - The Carson Thompson Project.

For you out-of-towners, the reason we would like to do it Sunday, is that is the big day for going to the river around here. Nevertheless, I will move it to accommodate.:drink:

Sounds good. Hopefully the law, city, etc. will be more accomodating as compared to last years poker run.

DWF has said no problems. Still trying to get gaming enforcement on the phone. Its not what you ask... its how and to whom. Everyone has been great so far. As far as the city goes, I don't need them for anything I can think of... what did they do last year?

Kieffer4 03-17-2011 03:18 PM

Three of us plan on running Saturday. Not sure were, maybe over to Madisonville for some lunch. Shake down run to blow out the cobwebs.....

caseyh 03-18-2011 11:28 AM

Have a float in the baton rouge ST. Pattys day parade..... But will be out and about Sunday

well we will if you'll come over and help finish the yard work..:lolhit: just joking, we will try for Sunday but no promises, the yard needs to get done so the rest of the summer can be spent burning gas ( at 4 to 5 a gallon ) but I'll do my part on adding to those green house gasses, that'll give us longer summers right!!!????!!!:lolhit:

Going run from Bay St. Louis to Gulf Shores outside on Saturday if anyone wants to run with us. Providing the weather holds out, of course.

It didn't! NOAA said 1-3s but now says 4-6s in Mississippi Sound. Gonna hit the water down there somewhere. Where's everyone going to be?

jmeng 03-25-2011 01:05 PM

We'll be out. Boat club is running from Blind River Bar to Sun Buns for lunch.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 04:11 PM.
