Some people from the city wanted to be difficult and didn't want any displaying of boats and such at the ramp. Hopefully all that will not be an issue this year. Would like to see a good turn out for sure from people all over!

LOL! What are they going to do... say, "You can't park here???" That's an easy one. Now, as far as dealers setting up a display, that might be different, but I'd bet we could get it handled. Particularly if a local dealer wanted a display.

Anyone going to be on the Tickfaw this weekend? I'm coming down for a few days.

spark plug 04-19-2011 08:32 PM

JLAY 06-16-2011 08:17 AM

Anyone doing Prop Stop Poker Run this weekend?

Ptufaro 06-16-2011 10:20 AM

+1

X-Rated30 07-02-2011 10:02 AM

Firm date for the Poker Run up here is July 30. It will be in Monroe, and all are welcome to attend. Anyone needing directions or hotel and restaurant advice, just ask. If you need to call, the office is 318-362-0057.

$20/hand. 100% payout. Band at the marina afterward.

There are very few obstructions in our river and to screw up, you'd probably have to work at it. Alot like the Tickfaw with long, sweeping bends, the Ouachita is plenty wide and has beaches and a spring fed lake where we tend to anchor and hang out.

Fuel is available on the water and gas stations near the river, and there is plenty of parking at the ramps.

you guys run the river north, south or both from monroe????

X-Rated30 07-15-2011 08:51 AM

Both - roughly the same distance to a lock and dam in either direction. Prettier beaches and narrower river to the north. Big sandy bluffs to the south.

Not exactly were your asking about but GCO does a nice run in September 17th. The run mostly takes place on the E SE side of lake Pontchartrain.

LOL. It went ALOT better than Emerald Coast did for me!:lolhit:

Actually, it went GREAT. It was as close to flawless as you could hope for a first time event. Everyone had a blast, and we raised more money than we had set for our goal. The band was great and played about 2 hours longer than they were paid to play, because they were having such a good time. We learned alot about doing it and how to do it bigger and better next year. Fortunately, I am smart enough to make sure we don't try to make it TOO big next year.

Get a group together for next year, and I'll help set up boat parking and places to stay. Heck. I might need a ride, too.:drink:

We are fine, and we are waiting for the ins co to see what they are going to do with the boat. PS - we aren't married, but if she still puts up with me after pitching her out of the boat at speed, I like my chances! LOL

caseyh 09-04-2011 05:47 PM

The flooding is getting bad.... Trypical storm and wind is pushing water way up...

Yep. Spent some time at the river this morning. Decided to leave the boats on the lifts. Should be all right but I did pull the 'toon trailer out where we can get to it if we have to. Did have to take the top off the barge so we could get it up an extra foot.

That's funny. I was ahead of you when that happened in my 28. Glad to see you still have your sense of humor. My wife has put up with my addiction to speed on water thru 5 Skaters over 25 years. She said you'd be a fool not to marry that one after getting her wet and she's still hanging around and she is never wrong!

Anyone from the Diversion/Tickfaw going to Jacksonville for the poker run? I'm toying with the idea of heading over there.... :evilb:

X-Rated30 05-20-2012 08:58 PM

Hey - odd question. About 10-12 years ago, I went to an alligator farm one exit outside of Hammond. I thought it was at the Tickfaw exit just north of Hammond and then east to hwy 51 and just off 51 after you go south. I tried to find it a couple of months ago, but couldn't find it.

They sold stuff they made from the skins there, namely belts. I went to Kleibert's a couple of weeks ago and that wasn't it.

Do any of you guys know the place, or know of another gator farm that makes belts??? Help a brudda out.

LAriverratt 05-22-2012 08:21 AM

this is probably the one you went to (http://www.kliebertgatortours.com/) I just came back down I-49 yesterday and seems to me there is one between Alexandria and Lafayette too.

X-Rated30 05-25-2012 08:54 AM

Nope - that wasn't it.

sorry....I must be blind and illiterate:grinser010:

there is a Circle M Ranch in Natalbany (that's north and east of Hammond of 51) I've never been there...don't know jack squat about it...didn't know they existed LOL!!!
