"Spring is fast approaching and that means boat season! Mid-March means beautiful mid-70s days and perfect weather to drink a beer or seven. Water is warm enough for a QUICK dip for the necessities. "

Kick off party for the season here, been on the lake the last couple weekends working out bugs. Would be great to meet some more of you guys.

When you travel the Colorado river between lakes do you have to go through locks? What is the speed limit on the Colorado waterway and subsequent lakes?

As far as I know in Central Texas you can not travel from lake to lake on the Colo. River. Each lake is seperated by a dam. You have to load up and go to the next lake and launch again. The most popular lake is Lake Travis. The lakes(at least Travis)does not have a speed limit that I know of as long as you are operating your boat safely and not speeding through a "no wake" zone. If your driving dangerously and acting like an ass I suppose you'll get stopped--there are usually plenty of water patrol on the lake.

Yep he is correct, there is no system to travel between the lakes on the river. That would be very cool though.

There is no speed limit, but yeah, definitely need to be driving safe. I love watching the poker runs here.

From aerial photos/maps it looks all connected!

How long would it take to cruise from one end of the lake to the other (at 30-40 mph)?

At 30-40 mph---maybe a couple of hours depending on boat traffic.
