Over the past several years (since 2007) the Texas Fun Run Club has put together the "Fun Runs" at Texoma, as well as events on surrounding lakes. This organization was formed under Marine Quest. They are the only company out there that would provide liability insurance, which is required by the corp to obtain a permit for a sanctioned event on Texoma. There were a few years of no runs due to natural issues on the lake...flood, drought, etc.
Just for the record...Legend Marine Group does not host or sponsor any runs at Texoma. They do advertise with the Texas Outlaw Challenge & with the Florida Powerboat Club and are very supportive and helpful with their customers at each event. Unfortunately, several of you are correct...the liablility and risk involved is too much. I personally think Gordon and Ann would have liked to see them continue.

I'm in, but don't really want to do an all day event. I think it would be a lot of fun to do a casual tie up all day. Then around 5 or 6:00pm make a long run.......say from highport to the damn and back; anywhere is fine with me. If you did it a little later and went from highport to sunset and back it would be one kick azz sunset cruise once you head to the west coming from sunset. You could make more runs during the day if you wanted to. This way I think could include a lot more people. There are a lot of us with lakehouses and guests and have to keep them all happy including the wife and kids. I'd rather not make any stops at marinas. Too hot and creates a lot of excess traffic and attention from authorities I just assume not have.
I'd pitch in some money for some kind of a memorial statute for Flash Gordan and Ann or something like that. We could post it up somewhere at the islands and use it to designate a place for tie ups every year all year going forward. I know a guy that could build a giant styrofoam sculpture and coat it with concrete. Sort of a tribute beach that could add to the sport going forward with or without any poker runs. I only knew Flash and Ann from a handshake at the poker runs so I deeply apoligize if this idea came accross as offensive. I will promptly delete if I need to. I have nothing but respect and admiration for both of them; they inspired me watching them tear up the water since I was 15.
