I know we are still a few months away but it looks like it maybe a few more boats than the number you have put out so far, I just got a call from another friend of mine and he said count him and his wife in 29 Advantage 1 boat and 2 people and they will also need a room and dockage. Leaving from Beaumont...
AWESOME!!! I just put that number out as a base... We are still 3 months out. I know it goes fast... But we are hitting the area at a great time. Spring Break will be over and right before schools get out and people start to Vacation. But the sooner we can lock in a number of people the safer it will be. So far we have about 28 people correct? Is there a hard count right now? More I think about this I might head directly to the Nugget for Coordination when you all arrive. This is getting large and gonna be a blast. John |
I am leaving from Clear Lake. 6 in my boat need 3 rooms.

Advice needed. I now have used my boat for around 5 hours and have no issues (engines have 350 hours total) . I don't want to jinx myself but is there anything I should do to the boat prior to this run? Engines are 2006 Mercruiser 350s and bravo III drives. Below is what I plan to do:
1. DIY oil and filter change 2. Pay marina to do a compression check and replace spark plugs at the same time 3. Inspect and possibly replace belts (bring a spare) 3. DIY Change lower unit gear oil 4. DIY Inspect and top up all fluids 5. DIY Replace fuel filters 6. When I bought the boat they installed new water pumps should I replace the impellers? 7. I am very particular about the boat. It is very clean, but I will preform a full detail. 8. Oh and the last thing!!! I am installing a pretty serious stereo. So I will make an All Canadian hits CD. Just what everybody wanted haha. |

Thanks Urban. I hear what you are saying. I ran the boat from Clear Lake to Galveston and back running about 3800 RPM the whole way and it never missed a beat. At around 4500 rpm I am doing just above 50mph. I figure this is what I will be running on the this trip in order to keep up. I ran it for 20 mins at this speed and temp never increased a bit.
I just installed a new Garmin 741 7" touch screen and I would reccommend to anyone. Very easy to install and very user friendly. The sonar is cool also. |

John, It is a shame that Canadian Music is held to the standard of Nickelback, Celine Dione, and Shania Twain. Bare Naked Ladies (Simple BNL in Canada) are a national treasure.
Canada has giving the world many exception musical talents. Names like The Tragically Hip, Sloan, Bryan Adams, and Great Big Sea come to mind. Yes, I understand that Justin Bierber is Canadian but we are in the process of revoking his Citizenship. I have contacted the Canadian goverment (Darrell and his other brother Darrell) and they feel this event is of national importance and I have been encouraged to partake in cross cultural exchanges. Maple sirup and Ann of Green Gables DVDs for all. |

Sure wish I could do this but I don't think the date is going to work for me

Hey Guys,
I have made this trip many times from both Clear lake and Beaumont/Bridge City. It's an easy trip by boat with very few navigation issues to worry about. It does get a little confusing once you head north on the Calcasieu river towards Lake Charles. The ditch (ICW) is the way to go. It can get a little boring at time as there are 20 miles stretches that you don't even have to touch the wheel! LOL If anybody want to chat about this trip PM me your number and I can talk you through it. On another note, if anybody wants to make this a budget trip (not pay $300+ a night for hotel) you can always stay at INN on the Bayou www.innonthebayou.com for about $70 bucks a night and they have good boat parking. This is what we do on the Texas Big Boat runs. You can buy a day pass to use the pool areas at the casinos for around $25. Have fun guys! When it gets a little closer I might have to join in on the fun! LF |

LF I just called Inn on the Bayou, and I think she said it is $79.00 per night and they don't charge you to dock overnight They also have a water spot if you need to flush the salt water out of your engine. I assume you need to bring a water hose. Let's see what the Golden Nugget offers......The Golden Nugget does not have much room for a lot of boats and I bet there is going to be a lot more boats going than what the Golden Nugget can handle. |

Gerry has always treated me and my groups like ROCK Stars. If we can pull this off once maybe we can do it as an annul get together or some type of poker run ending at the Nugget... Looking at a lot of reviews sounds like there some bumps, but that the run is still a good three to two months away. I am sure it will be a great time and looking forward to meeting everyone. Hey have a question if you have a min. I am involved with a group of Offshore sports boats. ( www.offshoreonly.com ) There is a group of us, 5 to 10 boats (Still working on a hard number) that are getting a boat run together from Clear Lake / Beaumont to Lake Charles for a fun get together weekend in April. Everyone wants to go to the Nugget. We have been looking at the marina, the cost per boat, and rooms, but can’t find anything online or published on rates. Do you have any info or a POC we can contact for the information? Thanks, John As soon as I hear anything I will post it here. |
I reached out today. I have not heard from his people. But we will.
Did we get a hard number of people? J |

OK I've been in contact with Eddie Yago:
Eddie Yago Vice President Resort Operations Golden Nugget Lake Charles, LA 70601 337.508.7805 I was told they have 6 - 30' Slips 2-50' Slips right now. I spoke to him about the beach. He said the beach should be completed by then and he is taking pictures and sending them to me for best docking. He is going to work with us. I told him Showtime got a bock of rooms from Inn on the Bayou and the rate. Eddie is working on the rates now. I am sending Eddie info on the boats and poker runs now... This might turn into something pretty big if we already have a good turn out. Also if y'all could email me at [email protected] Subj: Lake Charles. And I'll send out info direct to you as well. Thanks, John |

I am leaving from Clearlake. I plan to stay at the Golden Nugget.

Showtime,
Good speaking with you today. Showtime and I have spoken and we are moving forward. We both are in contact with the Nugget. They understand our wants and needs. So he and I will work on this together as we both have great ties over at The Nugget. LOL In the next week or so we should have some solid answers and info. |
Any updates on the Golden Nugget?

I spoke with Eddie the manager today and he gave me a price of $199 for Friday night and $249 for Saturday night, he also said he would get back to me about the dockage to see if he could waive the fee and if not the fee would be $2 per ft for dockage. The price on the rooms was based on a minimum of 10 rooms up to a maximum of 20 rooms.
I'll hit him up on free dock and what else we can get. |

Eddie, called me and left a message. He said he would try and looks like he did contact you. I'm sure he is going to give me the same price. The place has been sold out every weekend and that is what we are competing with.
I'll hit him up on free dock and what else we can get. |
The hotel rates are fine with me. If he can waive the docking fee that would be great but either way I am in for 6 rooms.

Anybody have an estimated time of departure?
Clear Lake Depart:________________ Meet up in Galveston:_____________ Meet up in Beaumont:_____________ ETA Golden Nugget:_______________ Rumor has it this trip will take around 12 hours. Counting on breakdowns, lunch stops, the guy in the Formula bow rider slowing everybody down etc. I am proposing a departure time out of Clear Lake at 7:00AM meet up with the group in Galveston at 8:00. Then head together to Beaumont. Hopefully arrive in beaumont for lunch time?? What do you guys think about getting flags for the lead boat and the last boat. I have done this for snowmobile rallies and it helps keep everybody together etc. |

I tried to book into the Nugget. They don't have a group rate set up for us….. I booked a room with the idea we can adjust the rate later.
