Casino Run

Anyone or group planning a casino run from Texas to Lake Charles this year.

Big Block 01-03-2015 09:57 AM

We are going to try and run from Clear Lake to the Golden Nugget this spring when the weather warms up. Have you done this before?

insanedaddy 01-03-2015 02:02 PM

I am in.......I hear the docks are nice at the Nugget. Big Block are you buying the first round?

I have been before but it has been a long time ago, so that is why I am looking to go with someone who knows the route real well.

UrbanDisturbance 01-04-2015 10:49 AM

I want to go. Can you buy super unleaded around the Casino area?

Not sure but I bet we can find out!

insanedaddy 01-04-2015 03:07 PM

I hear there is a fuel stop at Port Neches. Big Block, didnt you stop there before? Do they have super unleaded at the pump?

There is a stop half way to the casino. I imagine in Lake Charles there is a place to fill up before you head home also.

We did this years ago for my brothers (tomtbone1993) bachelor party. It was insane! I'd love to do it again when the weather warms up. If the future trip is anything like the last one, we will need people to bring trucks for all the broken boats!!!:hitfan:

Lol.......that is what I was kind of thinking. That's a long trip for a high performance boat. It would not be good to break down over 100 miles away from your boat trailer.

Big Block 01-07-2015 09:24 AM

Here is a gas stop along the way. Golden Nugget does not sell fuel but I have some one at the marina looking into a fuel place on the water over there.

I actually live up the San Jacinto RIver north of Galveston Bay. I went to google earth and used the path feature to see how many miles going through the ship channels. A round trip from my location to L'auberge Casino was around 328 miles. A round trip from the Beaumont Yacht Club is 134 miles. If I launched in Beaumont, I would not have to worry about filling up and I would save a ton of $$$$$. I have been to the Beaumont Yacht Club before, and the place seems safe to leave your truck and trailer there for a day or so. Nice Boat Launch and plenty of parking.

By the way, I did see slips for parking at L'Auberge on Google Earth. L'Augerge has a awesome buffet with king grab legs and a lazy river. Where is the Golden Nugget that has boat parking? I don't know where the Golden Nugget is located.

Lauberge definitely has docking. From memory, it has about 8 slips which each slip can hold a mega yacht or four performance boats. The Nugget is just down the intercostal from what I hear but I have not seen it first hand. When we made the run years back we went Clear lake-Galveston-Beaumont-Lake Charles. It took 12 hours because we broke 5 boats:) Next time I'd leave from Galveston or Beaumont. That's enough boating for me. Beaumont actually would work well for us Lake Conroe guys because it is just as close as Galveston. If you want to run your boat more, that is always easy to do. Making your drive home shorter is a bit tough:ernaehrung004:

There has been a lot of talk..but how about getting a date set and leaving from Beaumont sounds like a good idea and maybe we can some of those southeast Texas boy's to join in.

There is a group on Facebook under Texas Big Boats. My friend that lives in Beaumont told me about a get together they were having this last summer on the Neches River in Beaumont. We went to it on my friends Allison boat and there was about 40 big boats all tied together, loud music, a contest and a helicopter. We had a blast. Nice sandy beach with no mud or rocks. I bet that group is planning a trip or will be planning a trip. If they go, that would be the ticket. It would be like a small poker run group having an activity without an entry fee. We all need to get to know this group. Time to buy that Manning trailer I have been putting off.

Sounds like a great idea so let's make it happen......

If I get my boat fix in time id like to do this ride to.

Hi. We just moved here from Nova Scotia Canada and keep our boat at Endeavour Marina in Clear Lake. It is a 28 Formula BR with twin 350s. I would really like to do this run. Would my little party barge be able to keep up? I don't have a trailer so I would be leaving from Clear Lake. My boat tops out a little over 60.

Damn that sounds awesome. Yeah that'd be a pretty sweet run still coming from Beaumont. I would be trailering from Austin so Clear Lake or Beaumont is about the same. I think I'd be in!

My boat can't go any slower than 38 to 40. I like to cruise between 42 to 50. If you can't keep up, I can always stop and drink a beer while you catch up.

UrbanDisturbance 01-10-2015 11:14 AM

I posted on Texas Big Boats on Facebook asking if they plan trips to Lake Charles. Someone responded and said they do it several times a year. They will most likely plan trips when it gets warmer. I am going to keep tabs and watch Texas Big Boats on Facebook. check it out and scroll down till you see all the boats in the water. That was the Neches River Event in Beaumont I went to. It was a lot of fun.

Captain YARRR 01-10-2015 11:29 AM

I'll make a post on Texas Boat Forums and see if a group from there would be down. It sounds like a hell of a fun cruise and logistically simple.

knottysmooches 01-10-2015 12:19 PM

I really hope to make this. It sounds like a blast. How many would be leaving from Clear Lake Area?

It will be perfect for the run and by the way it is not a speed run it will be just a great fun run...so let's start putting some dates up and take a vote on the best date!

GLENAMY 242SS 01-10-2015 01:26 PM

This run does sound fun, me and my boat are interested.

SHOWTIME 442 01-10-2015 01:30 PM

Ok since no one has suggested a date last start with this what month March, April or May. Because the Texas Outlaw challenge is in June....

GLENAMY 242SS 01-10-2015 01:34 PM

Merry merry month of may?

Captain YARRR 01-10-2015 01:39 PM

http://texasboatforums.com/posting.php?mode=post&f=13

Here you guys go, picked April since it's starting to warm up and if we did it in may we'd be competing with Tickfaw. Then June is Outlaw Challenge.

So far on a quick Facebook poll, there's five boats in.

knottysmooches 01-10-2015 01:52 PM

April 17-19th works for me. Only concern is if anybody is doing the leg from Clear Lake to Beaumont. I am not familiar with the water way and would like to have a lead boat.

Good idea....How about the 2 or 3rd weekend in April...10th thru 12th or 17th thru 19th....any input will be great.

Captain YARRR 01-10-2015 02:01 PM

Of the boats I've talked to that said they are in, 17-19 works

GLENAMY 242SS 01-10-2015 02:02 PM

Sounds like 3 days?

That sounds good to us. We would like to leave from Beaumont if possible. Who else would like to depart from Beaumont? Who wants to depart from clear lake?

Big Block 01-10-2015 05:40 PM

My wife has been hinting around for a big bash for her 40th bday and I am 50/50 on that date since her bday is 4/20. I will try and make it work but she does not like boats as much as me. If we go, Beaumont or Clear Lake is good for me to put in since I live in Pearland.

Looks like there are a few guy's that would like to leave from both places so why not see if we can make time for the clear lake guy's to leave early and meet the Beaumont guy's at the fuel stop and head the rest of the way together.

Captain YARRR 01-10-2015 07:41 PM

Yeah that sounds like a great idea!

SHOWTIME 442 01-10-2015 08:03 PM

So April the 17th thru the 19th is the date next we should get together on leaving times over the next couple of months and let's make it happen.....
