Kanookstr's boat is awesome, nice motor /drive combo, more $ than mama will let me spend, have college to start thinking about for the kiddies, I would like to find something for in the $45-50 range a 97 or newer. It will prorbably be my last boat for a while i woulnd't mind throwing a little elbow grease and slowly making the boat a 80 mph rocket, i would have my good buddy jason to do some paint / graphics for me!

Kanookstr, That is a great looking 288!
How well does that boat run with the upgrade to the engine? Have you had it on the dyno? And if so what kind of numbers did you see?
Do you have any idea about dry weigh with the engine mod's and the canopy kit? And what are the rubber pieces for in the picture of the dash? Looks like they may hold the bimini or something???
Thanks for the info, and the pipe dream of owning something that nice.

Here is a pic of the best speed so far. She now runs in the low 80's with the 5 psi pully.
Those rubber pieces are Aluminum and they are for a removeable wind screen.
with the AFR heads and CMI headers she is much lighter than when she had the Iron heads and manifolds.

how does it handle rough water? hows the ride overall?
what kind of TRUE speed should he see with the 502?
is there a big difference in performance between the 2001 and 2005 288?
I understand the hull has been redone with a true step on the newer 288.
hows the cockpit,is there enough room for 5 adults or is it narrow?
any input from people that have them would be great.
Thanks ,Tom
