info on a 288
I have a Friend thats looking at a 2001 288 sunsation with a cuddy and a 502 .
how does it handle rough water? hows the ride overall?
what kind of TRUE speed should he see with the 502?
is there a big difference in performance between the 2001 and 2005 288?
I understand the hull has been redone with a true step on the newer 288.
hows the cockpit,is there enough room for 5 adults or is it narrow?
any input from people that have them would be great.
Thanks ,Tom

If there's one thing we're most proud of with the 288, it's the ride. While there may be faster 28 foot boats out there, I'll stack the ride the 288 delivers against any one of them.

With the 502 in the 2001 you're certainly in the mid to upper sixties where the 2005/2006 hull runs about 2 mph faster.

Cockpit is plenty big enough for five adults to ride very comfortable. Six and it might get a little tight.
Feel free to give me a call anything with any other questions or concerns you may have.

Re: info on a 288
I second what Dave said. I have a 2001 288 with a 502 and run 64 to 65 on my lake with smooth as glass water. That is GPS by the way. I have run many Poker Runs with 4 adults and plenty of room. With 5 adults it's fine depending on how much junk they bring with them. That's what the cabin is for.
Everyone that rides in my boat always comments about the ride compared to other boats they ride in. This is a very forgiving hull and responsive to throttle from 3500 rpm and up.
This hull loves rough water. On the lakes in Tennessee I do not get rough water often but Kentucky Lake is a different story. Last weekend it was 3 to 4 foot water due to storms blowing in from the south and we sailed right through it smoothly.
Your buddy needs to buy that boat!

I have had the privilege of driving a 288, and am here to testify that the ride is awesome. The hull is responsive to throttle and forgiving in rough water.
