When u got a little weight they take a little more to plane... chad can testify to the wave pounding that ensued... the 288 can't compete in the big waves... spends too much time bouncing instead of plowing

I have a 288 with a 525 and have no problem running in the rough. I boat in long island sound which is always rough. I think the boat handles great. If you are flying out to much its the way your drive is set with trim. mahopac marine sells alot of these 288 and runs them all the time. I will run mine in the rough and be right with the 32 with 496 for power. The 32 is faster but i think the 288 if you like single engine is the way to go.
