If boats are timed, is it the highest obtained speed or overall average speed per lap?
The P-classes are based on an average speed, not top speed, per lap. We don't run with the GPSs...our speeds are calculated based on our time around the course. The prop calc (based on rpm, prop pitch and drive ratio) used to put us in our respective classes gives us a top speed about 7 mph faster than what our average speeds usually come too. So with a flat course with long straights-aways, you end up running your top speed longer, thus increasing your average speed over the length of the course. I'm guessing this is why quite a few of the P-boats broke out.

How the helll do TWO boats in Stock class turn 100mph+ laps ,on the same lap, when the other fastest laps were a minimum of 5mph slower.......
Things that make you go hmmm........

Funny thing is that Bounty Hunter kept resetting they're GPS, every lap, and never exceeded a 75 mph average per lap.
But yet the officials put them at a 76+ average lap speed.
Maybe GPS isn't as accurate as thought.
And no offense to the other P-4 teams that placed first and second.
It just seems strange that 7 out of 9 boats total, in P-4 and P-5, broke out.

We ran the correct pitch props and 5400 rpm rev limiters per the inspectors, which passed the post race inspection and there is NO WAY that we ran an 80.9mph avg lap speed, fastest we saw in the staightaways was 80.3mph and 69mph in the corners. Hopefully they'll straighten everything out.
