I stopped at Holiday Isle on the way out of Key West and learned from one of the locals that the resort has been sold. Plans are to raze the buildings for new condos.
Lots of interest in the race boat and how the races went in KW. Where did they hold races in the past?

EVERYTHING was right there they held the races just out by the sandbar. That was the only drawback is you had to be on a boat to see the race. Great party race with a long history behind it.

Was that the year it rained and was real cold? Than a guy flipped his cat and some Knob tried towing it back in with a small boat. When he was coming into the canal the wind pushed the cat on the other side of the jetty and the cat ended up in the weeds. It was getting dark so they let it sit there over night. I really felt sorry for the guy.
