Default What Class?

I have a twin engine v bottom that runs WOT 73mph, I'd like to run in Deerfield. Is there any class I fit in?

LS,

SBI/APBA has a class for every boat. Since you've got twins, you'll have to race in P4 (P5 is single engine only), but realistically, to be competitive you'll want a top speed of 82 mph.

Nonetheless, if you're just looking for the thrill and excitement, come on out!

Alright Steve, that boat will run great in Deerfield, top speed is not an issue there, acceleration is the key in big water. Not to mention that you will be running against Bill G. who won many races in your boat.

Bobby:

You guys should do it!!! Too bad they won't let you run p-5...

I forgot to tell your dad yesterday - I've got a spare set of cleaver 23's if you want to try those...not sure if they'll fit??

Who knows - maybe it'll be really rough and that Sutphen will definitely crush everybody in the rough.

I've also got a set of 21's for TRS drives.

We got Billy martin out, come on Steve, if we get your ass out of retirement maybe we can start an old timers league.

PS I love seeing my heros of yesterday back on the course today
or in the case of Gazelle "still on the course today"

wasn't your boat already grandfathered in in P5? Talk to John, maybe he can continue to recognize the earlier decision

If the boat in question is Bill Gazelle's old Sutphen, it's no longer eligible for SBI/APBA P5. I seem to remember Bill even brought up it's top speed at the owner's meeting in Ft Lauderdale and the board said twins are no longer allowed in P5. Plus, I think Bill was able to get the boat grandfathered into P5 since it was already registered at the time of the rule change to the P class speeds, which put the boat in the P5 speed bracket despite having twin engines. Also, how long is that boat? I think it might even be too long for P5 as well (28' and less).

As the P5 class rep for SBI/APBA, to allow twins in P5 now would require a rule change voted on by all active registered owners and presented to the Board of Governors for final approval.
