Re: Any interest in changing P-class speeds?
I don't think SBI will be changing any of our speeds to be equal with any other organization though. I believe they will have to change to our speeds and also their numbering system will not work for SBI. It probably would be too confusing for the scorers.

Sorry to jump into the SBI world, but if the classes were the same it would be easier for us OPA guys to race SBI which I would like to do once or twice a year.
FYI on the GPS, the version OPA uses checks your speed blindly every 3 seconds. You can't throttle back that fast and you will break out so if your set up is incorrect you will be DQ'd. I haven't seen a dash mount speedo up date that quick and it would be after the fact anyway.

If there is going to be a change then both SBI and OPA should change and meet in the middle. For the sake of the sport. Instead of SBI going up to ?7mph or OPA going down to ?2mph they should try and meet at 85mph, with no buffer.
If this happened it would not be great for me and my team, but if it is better for the sport then I support it. We all need to work on bringing the sport together.

Re: Any interest in changing P-class speeds?
All,
I really appreciate everyone's comments and this post spurred some great discussion. However, bottom line, there is not enough support to recommend a change at this time.
I do hope in the future if any organization decides to make changes for the betterment of their organization, they consider changes that encourage standardizing all the "P" classes among the organizations.
Best of luck to everyone this year...hope to see ya soon in Hollywood.

Guys, Its time for us to revisit this subject!! With all of the good from the other thread we need to take a step in the right direction and for the better of the sport we need a set of uniform rules / speed. It would be easier on the fans to understand, easier on the racers to race wherever they want, and easier for the organizations to race together.

Hello, Hello, Hello......... anyone out there???
I guess the momentum from the other thread hasn't carried over to this one???
Its going affect a lot of you like it affects me. We race in SBI P4 and are at the somewhat "top speed" of where our boat will safely and reliably go at 80 to 82mph. To get our boat to 85 is going to take some work, plus that is getting closer to 90mph, which I believe would be a dangerous speed for my boat to race at. So maybe just taking the speeds up to the OPA speeds isn't the answer, maybe it all needs to be looked at again, keeping the focus on "what is best for the sport"
The input of OPA and SBI racers are needed on this!!!
