I just did ask him.
He said, "last years format (07), will be used this year. Go to the general rule book, under World Championship Eligibility for details. There will be an email sent out shortly re: Key West".
end quote from JC
As I understand it, any other specifics will be dealt with as they come up. The bottom line that I see is them (SBI) needing to know what racers are serious about attending because of the pit space and needs. So if you intend to be there, get your paperwork in with your info.
John and Deana are on the road, heading to Morehead and will get something out as soon as they can. There is no-one in the office the rest of the week........so please wait for the official email or announcement and Morehead race is over...that will be a big help......thanks

Key West World Championship
November 2 - 9, 2008
To be eligible to race in the Key West World Championship Race, a team qualifies by having raced in the 2007 Key West World Championship, by racing in any two (2) races with any other powerboat organizations during the 2008 season, or at the discretion of the SBIP / APBA Offshore President.
The World Championship Race consists of three (3) days of racing, (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday). The World Champion is the Race boat with the highest point total at the end of the three (3) races in their class. If there is a tie in the total points, it is resolved according to the following criteria:
A.
Fastest Average Speed – The boat with the fastest average speed for the total laps required to finish that race, will be determined the winner.
B.
Greatest number of Miles – If a tie still exists the boat which has completed the greatest number of racing statute miles in that race shall prevail.
All the teams would be run under the banner and rules of SBIP/APBA Offshore /UIM, as in the 2007 Key West World Championship Race. All participants would pay a membership and equipment fee to SBIP/APBA Offshore along with the entry fee as posted on SBIP/APBA Offshore’s web site (www.superboat.com). Memberships and the 2008 rule book are located under the “Team Resources” on the home page.
•
Entry fees - If paying this during the race time, cash or certified check only, there is no exceptions. If submitted 14 days in advance of the race week they can be paid by credit card, business check or personal check.
•
Memberships - If paying this during the race time, cash or certified check only, there is no exceptions. If submitted 14 days in advance of the race week, it can be paid by check; credit cards are not accepted for memberships.
In order to organize the race site so that when you come in, your team would go to a designated pit site area; all teams need to complete the required forms early. They can be downloaded by go to the SBIP/APBA Offshore web site under “Key West World Championship” and select “Race Forms”, complete them and return back to Super Boat International to secure a pit area.
All participating boats must have the racing number on the boats as specified in the rule book.
The complete driver’s packet for the Key West World Championship race will be up on the mini site for the Worlds following Morehead City Race.

Bruce,
Sorry couldnt post earlier I just got home. Hopefully this will answer any questions you have.
The only other issue could be if a team as a person situation with SBI and they know who they are so that really isnt something that is a concern to us.
