NASCAR and its new Sprint Cup spec car was designed with slower speeds, durability and affordability in mind. The cars are actually going more than 20mph slower than they were 20 years ago...but the RACING is better from 1st-43rd.It has resulted in a more level playing field among all of the teams.

This was the concept of the original Super Cat class;and it worked pretty well.Yeah,a few top teams won most of the races;but isn't that true in all forms of motorsports. Many times there were great battles throughout the entire field;and and a top five finish was something to be very proud of.Who knows, maybe the spec 850 Super Cat class will prove to be just as exciting in the future.I would also like to see some form of spec single and twin open cockpit vee racing make a comeback.
I Think you hit it, when people go to a race that is what they want to see, not a high speed parade, (we have poker runs for that, no offense to poker runners). But due to the popularity of NASCAR, and the claims of offshore being NASCAR on water, people want to see deck to deck racing! whether it be Hydros, SVL , Turbine. THEY WANT RACING!

Waterboy keep your eye on SVL, it has the potential to grow!

If all be big unlimited and extreme cats ran together it would be a nice size fleet. If it is open water like Key West it will be a good contest. The rougher the better.

Yes, the big cats are a big draw and are very cool. They are a part of the show, but I don't think they are THE show. If the extreme, unlimited and turbine ran together is could be THE show. Separate I think they are each just a part. I do love your enthusiasm.

Good Luck everyone. I will be watching.

Now that there is more than one team, has anybody talked to JC about taking the 155 mph rule for turbines out of the book? It could get ugly if one team decided to follow the rule book and nobody else did.

http://www.superboat.com/docs/2008%20Tech%20Rules.pdf

look at page 83, 12.1

I voted for Geico. Having said that, I was at LOTO and witnessed the JBS crew getting better with every lap, it seemed. I think it will be a fantastic race and I cannot wait to see it.

Good luck to all!
