Jeff my wife and I met you in the pits in KW at the fallen racers charity.....it was a busy time for you as they were working on your boat....yet you took time to answer our questions and even went out of your way to show us the metal polish you had discovered in a truck stop.....you are good for the sport....if the media didn't appreciate your efforts your fans did

You want a way to make it better for everyone....improve the racing! The current format of our sport....multiple big boat classes with only a couple of boats in each class is not that exciting to even the most die hard offshore racing fans. The turbines are no doubt impressive...but you finished second in a class of three boats. It would be a hell of alot more exciting to see 15-20 catamarans battling deck to deck for an entire race....remember how Super Cat once was?Jeff, you guys did well in the most competitive class in the history of offshore powerboat racing;Factory 2.I am pretty sure you earned a great deal of respect and media attention and you certainly deserved it.For so many reasons, there were alot more people following our sport back then.In order for our sport to move forward so all of the teams get the media attention they deserve;the focus needs to be on the racing....not the show.

Poker runs may get you more exposure;but racing is racing, and everything else isn't.

Jeff,

I understand your side of this. The investment that you have in equipment and the limited coverage you have received so far. But all teams started from limited coverage. That being said, I can tell you for example that at the St Clair Race there are over 100K attendees over the course of the weekend. Now I don't know if that is as large as the other sites or not but from my perspective that is 100,000 sets of eyes all looking at the equipement that is brought into town.
Your ability to build a boat of that caliber should not be wasted. I have hope that you will be able to make it up to Michigan this year as we have many things to offer the sport and you participation as well as all of the other race teams is an intrigal part to the success or demise of the sport we all know and love.

In closing the more you race the more you get and If there is anything I can do to help when you arrive at St. Clair just give me a shout and we will do what we can.

Thanks
Brian K

Well said guys.Racing is racing.Nobody is more focused on the task at hand than us.Dont get me wrong-we are there to race.I think it all goes hand in hand-the teams need the organizations and the organizations need the boats.I have a boat obviosly but am struggling with the monumental cost per race.Yes-every team that won should be mentioned but also what about the racers and the great stories-even new boats. All these things arent getting into the press. So when you get a paper or a magazine-its like the same old-same old.I think thats why people are losing interest-its boring. This is a very extreme sport where lives are at stake-its more than a bunch of rich guys showing off.How can it change?I might have started this in anger but at least its brought up-Lets make it better somehow.I want to see things get better for eveyone-not just me

Jeff if everyone really wants to help the sport the first place to start is have everyone race together with rules that are in place for a minimum of 5 years and eliminate all of the different sanctioning bodies and have only one.The biggest downfall has always been that if I can not have things the way I want them I will just move on and start my own racing organization,it has happened many, many times. The only way that it will be taken seriously is if that happens because if you look at it from a sponsors point of view they always ask why is there so many orgs and why is there only one or two boats in this or that class. Also boat racing should be about boat racing not some of the other crap that is put in front of the racing itself.

Maybe we ought to hire a promotional company for the series. Then that could be used to move into hiring a marketing/sports agent for the series and both of those could snowball into a hiring a production company to produce a show like the racers want.... To show every aspect of this sport we all love.....

If I (cough, when I) win the Lottery that is what I’m going to do. I’m not going after you turbine guys instead I’m going to buy a SVL and a SV and campaign both in as many races as I can and hire a production company to do a show on all of the organizations….
