Default value of a 1983 24 SB

i got a good insurance quote from Allstate, was 593.00. Insured for 14,000.00. The broker told me that if there is a total loss they look around to replace the boat and then if it is more than 14000 i am responsible and if it is less then they pay less.
Does this sound right? or do they just look in the NADA book and pay what it is valued at? How do i find the value of my SB? Its a 1983 24 with twin 200's (1989)
thanks
dave

Seems correct. Id ask them as to where they look, don't assume. I would think they would search local listings in papers and boat listings in boat magazines. Im in the car business and often get calls from allstate and othe ins. co's. as to what a value of a(typicaly older) car would be worth retail. Based on my experience. The older the vehicle there is more a gray area.
