Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat
So, we're talking about $13,000 for the drive system, plus about $20k for a Yanmar 440?
|
Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat
20K for a Yanmar 440? is that right? sounds cheap.
And will it fit? thats an inline 6? could be too long? |
Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat
Apparently the measurements were taken and it will fit.

Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat
From this ad the 440 looks like $31k.

Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat
How about these?
They only show up to the 310HP with an outdrive on line, but the 370HP is basically the same engine. I'm sure it would couple up. I would bet the Y2K would run well over 60mph with the 310 and near 70mph with the 370. http://www.volvo.com/volvopenta/na/e...ndrive/d6-310/ |
Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat
I imagine if the boat would run 70 then it would cruise all day at 60?
If the 440 is 31k then with the drive we're talking 44k. For 50 omthing you have the whole boat and 496. |
Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat
The question is, what are you trying to benefit by going to diesel?
|
Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat
cost benefit, but over the short run there is none. if you kept the boat for 10 years, maybe, or if you wanted to sell it, maybe.

Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat
Ok, Imagine a single diesel in a 34'. I read about one in POwerboat, cant remember what brand it was though.

Re: Diesel Application in a 30' Superboat
I hope it would have a bow thruster too....
I know i wouldn't want to be docking that thing every day. |
