another option

5) Pfaff 600efi w/ imco xr

Talked to Paul himself today, got a ballpark price... 1yr warr.
and the shop is in SoCal... Damn this boat is costing more and more by the minute!!!

Anyone got any info on the new "baby 6" drive merc is suppose to have out for '06? I keep telling the wife that the boat wont go "that fast" and i'll keep it tame... LOL

Oh and i have to rule out the #6 with the 1000hp... Even with my insurance agent being my cousin, I couldnt get that one insured for anything reasonable if at all.

By all means option # 5 is a great idea !!! Any of the national brands like Pfaff---ZUL---Sterling are perhaps great choices !!!

Pfaff's pricing is almost inline with the Merc blue motors. Shop around before you buy. I would'nt pay for a name. Perfromance and value talk.

Rob what speeds are you looking for ???? The new mini 6 is still hush from what i gather. Remember the Merc 600sci will make 750 hp after all is said and done !!!! Also I think it's a good idea to have SUPERBOAT do a TURNKEY PACKAGE. Any issues can be taken care of there.

Re: So many decisions!!!!

Ahh the million dollar question; How fast do i wanna go???

Honestly I really dont know... I think about how much I'm looking at spending and the 496 looks better and better. Then I think well, we are gonna do some poker runs and since theres next to no SB's out here, i have to make this thing a show piece so bigger will be better. Or do i save some money right now, take the nice long warranty and be content? Ok go with that plan but upgrade the drive, steering, etc... so its ready for a big hp motor. But if i go through all that trouble and money involved, then why not just have the motor in it now and be done? And then theres the Idea of maybe racing (yeah, and I think this boat is gonna cost alot LOL) so build the boat to race trim and then only add what can be taken out later. Since the F-1 rules seems to be in flux then what motor do i get for that application? I have a feeling that after i get a chance to ride in the Y2K I'll have a better idea as to how fast i want to go in one... Been to 140mph in a Nortech and that seemed slow, then I have been in 21' shiada (sp?) at 110 and that scared the **** out of me.

So I'm really having trouble right now figuring out how fast I really wanna go? I thought I would start this thread with the idea that you all would have words of wisdom for me being Y2K owners. So lets hear some WISDOM!!!!!!

And if that doesnt happen then atleast I'm entertaining you all with my endless BS
