Superboats are not the fastest boats around. But you will not find a boat of the same size that will handle the rough better...
I have owned my 24' Super for 3 years now and many have been amazed how she runs in the rough. I have gone past boats 4-5ft longer, some twins too, in big water without question. Rough water is where these boats shine...
I have not gotten to ride in a 30' Super yet, but I'm quite sure it's more of the same on a bigger scale...
Yesterday, I spoke with OH-Zone, a proud new owner of a 30' at length. I believe Gary made all the right decisions when putting his package together...
It has been well documented that the 30' Y2K has a vary efficient hull to about 80mph. To push one well above 80 is going to take a lot of power and the $$ will climb exponentially...
The 496HO is a great package for the budget minded. However, this boat handles so well in all kinds of water, I believe you will want more power sooner than later.
In my opinion the Merc 525EFI is too expensive when compared to a custom build 600+HP engine. But a vary good case can be made when you consider a complete warrantied package (engine, drive, gimble, steering...) installed at the factory...

I agree. But how many other boats are faster with singles that are actually 30'? Two?

Faster... I'm wating till Sept. for the deposit, don't see a reason to send the money in. I would rather do it face to face. Are you coming out to Huntington Friday? I'll be around for most the day... First round is on me!!!

Pat... I agree that Sb's might not be the fastest boats but have you seen some of the tanks they are making on the West Coast nowadays? 6000lbs for a 28' thats not much of a performance boat when you get something weighing that much. I also think you hit the nail on the head: if not a 496ho then which is a better deal, Merc. or anyone else? Oh and JC and crew are rigging this beauty no matter what goes in it... I can't buy a boat 3000miles away and pray it runs when it gets here... We'll run the **** out of it before it leaves NY!!!!!!

Hey Rick, if your paying attention... Have you guys tried some of the newer composites or techniques to get the hulls weighing less then now? I might be the guinee pig if your interested?

Wise choice HB, Merc motor and a factory rigging. No problems.

Several weeks ago I was the 4th overall to the first stop at the Little Creek Poker Run, many twins with much bigger power way behind me. this Run started in the Chesapeake Bay then Runs into the Ocean down Virginia Beach to Rudee Inlet, quite impressive.
